Hypo tank transfer method and general cure for new fish .

I have been doing the following for new fish. recently lost like 20 of 45 fish to ick. I did Hypo to the DT and now have started new QT procedures for new fish..

combination of three things.
hypo, ttm and General Cure from API. I also treat and do a bath with Actriflavin.

I have a bunch of 10 gallon tanks.

1. New fish gets acclimated to 1.009 over two to three hours.
2. Placed in 10 gallon tank with only water, heater and airstone.
3. For period of 15 days every morning I place fish in a new 10 gallon tank
4. New tank every morning has newly made saltwater at 1.009
5. tank used for the prior day is rinsed with hot hot sink water. four times
6. paper towel dry and left under ceiling fan for 24 hours to completely dry
7. so new tank rotated in every 24 hours was scoured hot water and dry completely.
8. I add API General Cure every morning with the new tank water. I dose at
recommended level.. which works well as one package is per 10 gallons. API is used for issue of possible flukes and worms.
9. use colander to remove fish. or actually use hands to remove depending
on the aggressiveness of fish.
10. Over the 15 days I do two baths in actraflavine in the evening in separate container... then place back in the 10 gallon tank.
11. 10 gallons tanks are pretty easy to clean in laundry sink fill like one gallon hot water swosh around... turn tank and pour out. hot scolding water hits all sides and rim of the tank..
12. make sure use refracometer that is calibrated to 35 ppt. NOT RODI.
13. VERY IMPORTANT.. I add in some alk solution to the 10 gallons every morning as the PH can be a little low in newly mixed salt at 1.009.

14. I use ESV salt that is the four part is a little more work but mixes quick and clear and seems to be very gentle.. I have used it almost within an hour of mixing with no bad effects on fish..

I treated my female scribble this way. cured the ick and some type of worm on her.. I can also note that my fish actually eat pellets even immediately after being removed and transferred to new tank in the am.

so I am wondering.. TTM works great.. does using Salinity at 1.009 hypo help when combined with the TTM. Does it add a level of benefit?

That seems like a lot of transfer to me.... Could possibly cause more stress than is needed to the fishies. Lots and transfer combined with hypo would cause even more stress.

I also do a shorter QT period and use something similar to you.

First day home straight to TTM. When I do TTM though I only transferring the fish every 72hrs.

2 weeks TTM ( transfers 2 and 3 I treat with prazipro). Continue transfers with your last transfer being after day 12. I also only feed on the last days right before transfer so I don't dirty up the water.

Week 3 - general cure treatment to get any remaining worms.

At this point your fish should be pest free.

Week 4 - treat any secondary infections if necessary. ( never had to do this).

Move to DT at end of week 3 if no secondary infections.

During my entire QT I also dose seachems StressGaurd and ParaGaurd daily until wounds healed then dose every 2 days the remainder of QT time.

I find this QT protocol works very well and I've never lost a single fish.... I've even brought back some severely ill fish with several open ulcers. Had a powder blue tang survive that had all fins rotted off and 4 open ulcers. Ulcers closed and fins grown about 1/3 the way back in 2.5 weeks.

I think TTM is the biggest reason for success.

was doing every day as ammonia levels were issue.
fish do not seem stressed.. to the point that they actually eat right after I transfer them to the new tank..

blackbird.. is prazi necessary since general cure api takes care of flukes? and worms?

I like to use prazipro because a dose of General cure to actually kill everything usually take a couple dose courses. I find prazipro does good at killing all the internal pest and that follow up dose of general cure knocks out anything left in the gills... Antibiotic treatments for internal pest isn't very effective unless absorbed in the food. Honestly though I haven't noticed anything left after prazipro except one time I seen a gill worm drop off.

Also as for the Ammonia, I've never measured any detectable amounts using the 72 hr timeline..... And I use 5 gal buckets for my TTM setup. The TTM is pretty well known and in all cases it's transfer every 72 hrs. It will greatly reduce your water needs also.

Seems like a lot of transfers to me as well. A little prime could cut the number in half, while saving a lot of salt.
IME, a single fish will not cause ammonia issues in a 10g tank over 3 days, but each tank is different.
What ever works for you, just so long as you stick to it.
