hey i need to do a hypo treatment on my main dt. now ican move out some rock and sand to a 50g i run at my buddies (rents wont let me have two tanks) unfortunetly to keep it ther i have to let him put fish in it so i cant use it for qt. so what im asking is the movement of 50% of rock and sand to the other tank going to makea diffrence in die off of bb and to help get it all the bb breeding again after? also thoughts on hypo treatment and other ways to fight marine ich? also copper is out of the question as i have a snowflake moray eel and toby puffer

Ok is the puffer and the eel in the main where the ich is? Copper is never a good idea in a main tank. Does your buddy have fish in the 50 gal? And you want to transfer LR and sand from your main (ich infested?) tank to the 50 gal? If this is the case you will transfer ich to his fish.
And what is bb?
Read the stickies on various ich treatments. In short, hypo can work but it's not always 100% effective. The stickies will explain why. Best treatment for a main is to be fallow for 72 days.

yes puffer and eel are in dt but when i mentiond copper above i ment i know i can not use use it with eel and puff as its poison. i was trying to avoid ppl recomending itas treatment. lol yea i had not thought about infesting his tank with ich :(i should have thought of that im pretty dumb. bb would be benaficial bacteria ive herd conflicting reports of what hypo actully dose to lr and ls bacteria some say it will kill it all others say it wont hurt it much my thoughts were to keep bacteria living in my buddies but uve pointed out a major flaw in my plan and whats "fallow"
ps bad at spelling sorry if anythings hard to understand

Fallow is to remove all vertebrates from the tank as ich can not host on inverts. Vertebrates such as the eel and puffer must be removed and treated for ich. They have been exposed and my understanding is that puffers are highly susceptible to ich. I personally do tank transfer for ich but I have read that puffers exposure to air should be limited but you would have to do more research on that.
The biological filtration can be affected by hypo depending on how low you go.
