I’m ready to buy: Prot Skim, MH+actinics, Tunze Streams, Sump, cooling fans, heater+

As mentioned in a previous thread, I have begun my move toward a bigger tank by purchasing a 150G this last weekend. Now I need everything else. Accordingly, I solicit your offers for any equipment you have lying around that you think might be useful, because I need a lot of stuff.

My equipment buying philosophy: Well of course we all want the very best, but if I can get decent, though not ideal stuff, at a great price, then I will go that route and maybe upgrade down the line. So, what I need:
- Lighting, my ideal preference: 3 x 250W MHs, electronic (Icecap?) ballasts, 14K bulbs, Luminarc reflectors. But of course I will settle for a much different set up if the price is right.
- Protein Skimmer, my ideal preference, BK, reeflow, deltec, etc. But hey a solid custom rig would certainly be workable. Also need the pump to power it.
- Powerheads: Tunze streams of some sort would be great, but as always, I'm flexible.
- Sump with refugium, no more than 36 inches long and narrow enough to fit in a stand for a 18” wide tank. Custom desired? You bet.
- Cooling fans, maybe and DC converter for my hood
- 300W titanium heater, or maybe 2 heaters around 150 each? Heck, I don't think my heater ever comes on, maybe I can go smaller.
- DJ power board, yeah I love the one I have, but I need one more.
- Plumbing supplies: 1 inch bulkheads and various fitting needed, but Im not sure exactly what yet. My plumbing advice thread is still in progress.
- Might need an upgraded return pump, Currently using an Ocean Runner 2500 from Aquamedic. Iwaki, Panworld, etc would be nice but I havn’t done my research. Basically, I need a bit more flow than my OR.
- Might need a pump suitable for a Close Loop with a single 1” supply/input line

So, Im open to offers, and I will bring cash to the next FMAS meeting.

Dude! Get Mel's 2x250w 10 and 14k retro setup with icecap ballasts. With what you're saving on it, you can afford to pay full price for the third set, the reflectors, or the actinic.

Someone had a wavebox for sale, I think it was Rawbomb. With just that you can get your tank shakin' and movin' without a doubt. I've seen it on Rogger's tank, and now I'm a believer.....

Skimmers, I havn't seen any locally for a while, at least not of the size you're looking for. Good brand names though, so it looks like you know what you're looking for. For the return pump, I would suggest looking into the Eheims seeing how low flow you've been going. I've seen them in use and they're DEAD F*ING SILENT! It's insane. I'm using a LittleGiant, and it's like a jet engine compared to the eheim.

For a closed loop I've heard great things about the Sequence pumps, specifically the Dart (3600gph).

Cooling fans, I've heard great stuff about the Icecap ones because they're variable speed depending on the temperature of where you stick their included temperature probe. Expensive, but nice. Otherwise the Panaflo fans are supposed to be very silent and move a lot of air as well. They're more computer related, but it shouldn't matter, as most fans in this hobby are from computer related companies.

Hope I helped, can't wait to see the final parts list and the tank as a whole once it's completed :)

Hi Osteo,
I have (3) great items for you:

-(2) Streams with multi controller (1) is a 6000, the other is a 6100 with Tunze hanging magnets. Paid $890 new, sell for $600.
-72" Maristar with (3) 250watt HQI bulbs and (4) 39watt actinics. HQI ballast for the MH, electronic ballasts for the T5's. Paid $1350 New, sell for $750 with optional legs included.
-Brand New DJ Power center. Sell for $30

i have a brand new in the box, never opened, sequence pump considering selling. i got it as a backup. let me know if you are interested. here's the link to it. http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=539. you probably won't need anything else as far as water movement in your tank and it adds no heat to your tank. i'm currently running one on my tank now.

I have 3 Tunzes:
(2) 6200s
(1) 6100
(1) single controller
(1) Multi Controller
(3) Magnet holders (6200s)

paid $1700+

$1200

i have a ASM G2 skimmer if your interested aswell.

Is that the fully modded one? did you post that for sale awhile back?

Considering all offers, keep them coming. Couple of questions:

Reefwreak: Who is Mel, whats his nick on the forum? Looked back through 10 days, could not find a thread with his light for sale. And thanks for the continued recommendations.
Flamehawk: What bulbs are in your Maristar, and what is their age? I'll probably take the DJ power center. Coming to the meeting next Tuesday?
Reefsahoy: That is an awesome pump, but I don't know how I could use it. Not to bore you with an explanation here, but if you check my "plumbing advice" thread still on the front page, you can see my overflow/output line limitations. If you would care to make a recommendation as to how I could incorporate your pump into my set up?
Rawbomb: What price for your skimmer? And it would be good to know the answer to tperks questions about the mods. You are also selling a wavebox yes? How much are you asking for that?

MEL IS REDDAWG43... :)

This is what ReefWreak was referring to:
I have two 250w MH Retro fit kits....Mogul, ice cap ballest, 2 used 14k bulbs, 2 new 14k bulbs.
All will go to the first person to get $200 to me...
I need the cash to buy a nano tank thats on sale.

I live in Miami Shores....probably 20min or less from the beach.
So we could meet up tonight, if you wanna pick them up. I usually don't do the meeting due to I work to far south to make it on time.

i personally would try my best to keep any and all motors out of the tank for heat reasons. when i get the chance i will get a skimmer like bermuda or something where i can incorporate the return to supply it so i don't include the pump into the water. i would also remove as much powerheads from the tank as possible for the same reasons. IMHO i don't see a need for heaters but for chillers and to keep electric $ low as possible i try my best to remove any heat generating equiptment from the water. this is why i got this size pump to eventually remove all motors from my tank. you might want to consider this before buying a skimmer or any powerheads

Osteo, the bulbs are Phoenix 250watt HQI but they probably need to be replaced in a couple of months. I'm still using them over my 180gal.

Unfortunately, where the meetings are held and with my schedule...it is impossible for me to make it to the Tues meetings. I'd be more than happy to ship it to you which will probably be cheaper than gas!

Also, just wondering when you will start buying the equipment. My offer for the Tunze's and lights is not forever ;)

JOHNNY

i have actually never put this one up for sale. It only has the gate valve mod on it currently. Pmed you on the other stuff.

Must have been someone else with a Modded G2 that posted.

Flamehawk I'll take the DJ center soon as we can get together, I'll pass on the light, and I am ready to commit to the Tunzes yet, so don't wait for me if you are planning to sell them. I live in Miami Beach, but I work in Doral, so if you are close to either of those locations I'm sure we can meet to make the sale on the power center.

Rawbomb I'm researching, I'll let you know.
