I added a black perc to pair with my ocellaris:)

So, I was quite worried to do this of course, since it is only a 12g tank. The other resident (a shrimp) has been removed and these are now the only inhabitants (and of course coral and an rbta.)

I have had the ocellaris for a few months and i'm pretty sure it is still a juvenile. I found a black perc today that is approximately the same size, maybe a tiny bit smaller.

Upon entering the tank, the black fish was attacked and went and hid near the anemone. It brushed the rbta a few times in hanging out there, and didn't seem bothered at all. Then, the black clown decided to rush the ocellaris and the ocellaris seemed a bit frightened and hid for a few minutes. Now they are swimming all over the tank together, dancing in sync, etc. I was expecting a real fight, and maybe this will happen at some point, but it seems they do accept each other. I'm not sure if they've decided who the boss is yet, the black fish has done a quiver, but now seems to have become the dominatirx.

Oh, what's this, the black perc just attacked the ocellaris and now they are not swimming together. I think the black one is the dominant, even though a little smaller.

ok, the close dance has resumed. Man, this is so interesting. More tomorrow, and pictures also to come. Wish us luck:)

Ok, here are a couple of pictures. Sorry about the flash, I can't get the shutter to capture these fast fish w/o it.

Resident "Homey the Clownfish" asks new black perc, "A fish called Wanda", to dance.

Wanda finds a new home; Homey is a little upset because he's been skirting and brushing the RBTA for days and Wanda was braver than he is, lol! RBTA has been here for a month and Homey just started to touch it recently, hopefully he will join Wanda soon.

After looking at Wanda this morning, she seems a bit emaciated. We were successful with some frozen brine, but she would not accept zooplankton. I will be working to fatten her up and acclimate her to our regular diet here (flakes, pellets and frozen seafood mix.)

There have been a couple of small spats, but overall I think that Wanda is glad to be here, she is loving the RBTA. Homey seems happy to have her, and I definitely see a pair happening:)

OH NO!!!

After looking at pictures, it looks like Wanda may be a saddleback clown. I thought they just looked different than the orange variety, but in another thread a picture of a saddleback looks just like here.

Why are they doing well together? Should I not expect this to last? Does she not know she is a saddleback clown?

*err* um, I feel like a dope:(

Well, the little guy has gone back to the lfs. I hope he will do ok. I am sorry to have stressed the poor thing, but at least he ate. :(

I guess if nothing else you can take these as updated pix of my anemone. As many did suspect, it did darken a bit from the pictures taken a month ago. So, that's good anyhow:)
