today i went to the beach to collect micro crustaceans for my pipefish anyway i also brought 3 pieces of LR. One was covered w/ a kind of algae but it was not like others, the plant was a bit stony like halimeda also it wasnt green or red, it was grey-purple (not coralline)
anyway when i put it in my tank lotsa little bugs (Crustaceans) came out of this plant-rock so i am planning to put lots of them. But i dont know if the plant will grow or not. I took a pic, i m not sure if its common too in the US?

Looks like it's actually not an algae, but instead a bryozoan. I could certainly be wrong though, but that's what it looks like to me.

thanx fourhand but nope they are not bryozoan i think (i know photo doesnt show the plant very well),
i searched a bit yesterday and i think they are seaweeds.
Can it be a kind of seaweed?

btw fourhand hows your shrimpfish doing? are they still alive

Take Care

ok my hermits ate the plant in the pic but i again brought some kind of plant
this is quite tall. My pipefish spends lotsa time around it, i think it has pods in it. Here is a pic, can anyone id?
