REEF NERD
well for the past 6 or so mths. now been battleing with a worm in my tank. Not just any worm but a TWO foot 4 in coral eating monster. a Eunice worm. It has eaten a huge coloniesof GPE and Evil Mells and has now hit some of the sps. The straw that broke my back was that it took a big bite out of my new dendro. So sitting on the coutch last night half buzzing i said thats it. Took half the tank apart and got it out . After getting it out i was running around the house like Rocky lol

Somewhere at RC was a post about somebody finding one that was six feet long. It lived in the PVC support rack he had made for his rock. In the wild, they can get up to 8 or 9 feet long.

yeah that one is 3/4 if a in thick.. mine was like a pinky finger..I would have pooed my self if i have one that big

OMG that is huge. How long do u think its been in your tank to get that big? Atleast u got it out though before it did any more damage

I have no idea how long ... the tank has been up for 2 years .. i dont know if i could afford any more damgae i bet it ate about 60$ in corals

That's awesome, glad to hear you finally got him out though... just one of those things that makes you want to fix it but you know it'll be a lot of hard work messing up your perty little reef! Question is... did you dip him in chocolate and munch him down afterwards to get a little revenge?!

When I posted pics of mine getting the "sidewalk treatment" over at the forum here that focuses on worms, one of the guys over there wailed in anguish and jump all over me. He has been looking for one and would have paid shipping for me to send it to him. But then I wouldn't have be able to subject the little coral- and snail-muncher to a slow, painful death.

Heh. I wasn't too brutal. After his photo-op on the driveway at Don's house, I left him in the trash can. Probably the most brutal I've ever been to any living organism from my tanks (except for the hydroids who got the propane torch).

Freezer was too good for him, though. That is how I euthanize my freshwater fish (put in a cup of tank water and stick in the freezer).
