I am Justin! Slayer of Pumps!

Jet Black

I finally found this!
FEAR ME!
My Rio2100 cord snapped and the motor magnate froze...

Looking for advice on a return pump 650-700 gph. Has to be fairly small and preferably energy/heat efficient. 3/4 outlet.

I'm not sure what brands are good, currently have a Lifeguard on it and it is hardly pushing water. Looking used or maybe new if it isn't too terribly expensive.

Any help is appreciated.

Water blasters are a *little* out of my budget, so unless you guys are selling cheap those are out.
Mag would have to be 9.5 for the output tube size and that would be to much flow without restricting the pump.
Jeabo seems like a possibility, how about noise?

Its always better to have a bit more flow and dial it back than not enough. You can always get fittings to accommodate your needs.

I agree but the Rio was perfect at 700gph so the extra 250+ is a bit much. Would there be any negative effects from greatly restricting a pump?

I'm still leaning towards the Jeabo unless I find something upon further research.

The space I'm trying to work with is 6"x8" (I'm trying to come up with a way to move the sump out of the cabinet while keeping the looks.)

I have been using the Aqueon Quietflow 2300 pump, 600 GPH, 47 watts for nearly a year and a half both for the return and the skimmer for my frag system and also my mixing barrel. The mixing barrel pump also being a spare for emergencies.

So far, they seem to be reliable and are pretty quiet. The next size up , the 3000 is rated at 793 GPH at 58 watts. . They have adjustable flow so you can dial it back without worry. They are fairly affordable, and I have had no issues so far.

Jebao dc is very quiet. Everyone that looked at mine couldnt hear a thing. I had mines on the second setting. Its controllable and affordable

Jebao dc is dead silent, and is controllable!

Edited to also include that it slowly ramps up instead of starting at full force, a nice feature for sure

I would not trust my whole system with a jebao. Next thing you know the ROC will nationalize your reef tank as part of the 9 dash line as they continue their bullying in the South China Sea.

Jet,

If you need something right away I have a almost new Rio 3500. It is a decent pump and moves some water. I also have a couple 2100's laying around. They are not the best pumps in the world but it seems to preform like my laguna 1400. I had it running to a tank that had a 800 gph overflow and the overflow could not keep up with it. And that was with 6' of head pressure. It has the newer casing and impeller. I have the original box with all the adapters to get it to whatever pipe your connecting it to. Ill give you a screamin deal or trade. Or you can just borrow it until you get something you want.

Sam

I'm using the Ehiem 1260 with the 1262 volute for 3 yrs and I couldn't be happier!!! Clean it every 6 months and runs like a champ!!! Just remember "you get what you buy" so keep that in mind!
