I am lost

I had lost 3 beautiful fish yesterday and I do not know why? My parameters are perfect except my calcium level is at 390, which is alittle low. There are no phosphates, no nitrates, and not ammonia. I did a water change two nights ago and cleaned out the protein skimmer with ro water and wiped out the bubble chamber with a clean paper towel. I scraped the glass to remove the algae with the magnet. I use RO/DI water for water changes my salinity level was at 1.024. So I am left to think ***!!!!! I have not changed any food or diet habits. The only thing that I have changed which was two weeks ago was the salt. I switched from IO to Red Sea Pro. When I did the change over to the new salt I slowly intergrated it in ratios. So it is not salt shock or stress. The three fish that I do have left are two clowns and a yellow tang which is showing signs of having problems. He is breathing hard. I have had the water tested by three different test kits and once by a store yesterday. Today I tested again and the params are still the same. I am going to do a major water change tonight about 30 to 60 gallons what do you all think? is that a good call? it is a 110 gallon system, 90 gallon display. there is one thing that I can think of that I did before I did my water change two nights ago, about a half of an hour before that I had to give the dog a bath. could the chemcals from the dog soap be stuck undreneath my nails and leaced into the tank?

I also posted this question in the Chemistry forum. Did not know where to really post. If it is in the wrong place I do apologize.

Thank you,
J.c.

How long have you had the fish that you lost? Did you place any new livestock in the tank recently? Any particular symptoms you saw the fish before they died? I see you mention a tang currently showing symptoms of breathing hard. Is it scratching on the rocks? Any loss of color or red streaking?

Most often when I come across rapid loss like that without any chemical problems, Amyloodinium (aka velvet) is the problem. It is swift and often hard to diagnose by those not already familiar with it. Typical symptoms are rapid breathing, scratching and loss of color. Often the initial symptoms are minor enough to be missed until it's too late. Treatment is with copper in a seperate hospital/quarantine tank.

BTW I'm going to move this to the disease forum ;)

man that stinks so sad. i would think it is possible to get chem residue from your hands into your tank but i would think soap wouldn't be toxic unless it has like flea killer or some other chemical. do you use carbon? i would get your yt out and into a QT. look closely for any signs of disease like billsreef said amylodioum is hard to diag. usally its to late once you notice it. its a very quick killer.
