I am plain stupid, but I want to try another angel

After watching a flame angel destroy half of a giant frog spawn and a 2 torch corals and breaking down half my tank to get him out, I want to risk it again with either a blue face or an imperator.

I have had a navarcus for 4 years, with no problems.

Thoughts about putting one of these angels in a reef loaded with LPS? If you had to choose, which is the better risk?

lol.. sorry to hear about that.

There is a full grown emp angel at the waikiki aquarium in a SPS coral farmer tank (roughly 1200 gallons prob more)

there are a few LPS/clams (BIG clam :))
i believe there is a Goniopora and some other type of LPS (no hammer/frogs/torch)

I would test the emperor... although i have no basis for my reasoning besides i like the emp better :)

The navarchus, blueface, and the emp are three of the safest large angels. They are safer than most dwarf angels IMO but all of these fish are a risk with LPS. I would probably go with the blueface because it should get along with your existing navarchus better than an emp.

Not sure what it is with angels, but I have had bad experiences with them, yet continue to re-entice myself about getting a new one that will be a model citizen. I think its chronic stupidity on my part, and it seems like you have been infected as well =P. Good luck =)

I love my Cherub Angelfish, she is great in my tank, my favrite fish. If you were to get another do what I did, put the fish in Q then introduce frags of LPS, if it eats the LPS frags get another fish. Once you have one that won't eat LPS frags, even when hungry (not fed for a couple of days) then risk it in your reef.

JMHO,

I have an african flameback angel, been a model citizen, and it's lived through stuff that should have killed it. (2 hurricanes, and me being stupid and nuking the tank with kalkwasser.)
