I think thats why i post on this forum as well as my local clubs forum. I like not only to show you guys/girls what i'm doing, but i like to read ALL the comments, the good the bad, and the ugly!!
Cartman what a beautiful clown! I just recently got one of similar size but her colors are slightly more developed and my tank can only suit one at the moment as well. Soon she'l lhave a 125g
In any event I'd have gotten the pair if it were me and I had a tank that could hold 2 beautiful large fish.
Mine has been doing well since I got her last month and I hope she grows old with me - and I still have a ways to go!
Thanks chrisstie, from seeing your video yours is definitely a little bigger and yes, more color. I agree with you though, should have gotten the pair but by the time i got up there to pick up they only had two left and the larger of the two didn't look right to me for some reason. This one is great. And your right about there personality, they are very neat fish. Good luck with yours.
Not trying to pile on but you really should have treated this fish in a QT tank with meds. just to be on the safe side. I agree that someone is doing something right on the collection end because most of the Latz that have been collected this year seem to be doing better than most but many of the fish that came in have been juveniles. The adults are the ones that generally have a very poor track record as they seem to be much more suseptible to pathogens like Brook.
I am pretty sure I know where your LFS got their Latz from. If I am right they have probably only been in the country for a short while and not went through any real QT process unlike the one that Chrisstie got from the online company that QT's their fish and had them for several weeks in medicated tanks.
Just to be on the safe side I would have a QT tank setup in case you have to pull the fish and medicate them.
In the works as we speak, should be up by Friday. But honestly, this fish is doing and looking better than any fish i've gotten. I guess you'd have to see to believe, but i don't think I have much to worry about, but to be on the safe side, i AM setting one up.
And go ahead and pile on as much as you like. Thats what i'm here for!!!
Chances are if your fish is a very healthy one which she seems to be by all description you give, you should be fine. If she starts to show any signs of brook or one of the more common wild parasites like flukes you should be able to notice it if you spend time with her every day, catch her, and treat her successfullly before its too late. The hopes in the QT are to prevent any of that catching to the rest of the critters in the tank but you may get lucky.
It is up to us to QT but if we dont we just have to take responsibility if we run out of luck and suffer the consequences.
