I can not figure out what I am doing wrong; a macro thing?

Hi,

Basic questions probably but here my problem.

I have a Cannon Powershot S2 IS

I have some really nice zoas (IMO) that I would like to take some pics of and for the life of me can not.. I have read and re read the manual but nothing, seems to work or I just don't get it.

Everything seems to always be blury, unless I am far away, I even hae a tri-pod, so I know its not becuase I am moving all the time.

Here are some examples of what I am talking about;

This is a deeper red wine color but looks like this, this is as close as I can get without it being blury but IMO does not show exactly how pretty it is.

These are a very pale yellow

These ones are like a super light purple

same as above taken with another setting

This is so far the best that I can do close up but it still look blury

Half my tank farther away; looks OK, but with the zoas, not really what I want to show.

I have 3 differnt green ones, some with white center/sparkles and true pinks and forget about it.. I can't even get close to something I would want to ask help for..

Any suggestions on what I am contniously doing wrong?

Thanks
Amber

Your powershot should have a "macro" mode. It will be a flower on your dial.

Maybe you know this if you've read a lot already. If it does have this function it allows it to focus closer up. some of those pics are focused, just not on the zoa's (like the 2nd last one).

I hope that is somewhat useful, although I don't think it is....

Sorry, there isn't a "flower" icon like I thought, but your camera does have a macro mode and a super macro mode. These will allow you to get in close. If you click on my red house there are a few pics that I took in this mode with my Powershot Pro1.

Thanks for the link. I have not seem it.

I do have a flower button (macro). i just cant get it to focus.

I will start the article..

looking at ur pictures it looks like u are trying to take them on a slight angle, if u are u will never get them in focus one thing i learn is to put my zoos on a slight angle so i could be straight up against the glass

If your zooming while in macro mode it doesn't work, (at least not for me) or if you have a bowfront. Just some thoughts, hope you figure it out.
