I can't be the first one to try this

I applied Rain X to the outside of the glass aweek ago.
Wow.Glass is spotless and mag float slides smoothly.
Anyone else ever do this?If not give it a try...

RainX causes a glare... horrible product if it is not raining! Try Aquapel made by PPG... it is a polymer. No glare :) Not available retail though... find a friend at a grease monkey or other oil change place that installs aquapel. You can buy it in a 100 applicator pack from ZEP... do 99 neighbors cars or tanks and make a few bucks :D

RainX on the tank... that is kinda funny. Anyway kidding asside.. if you want a good product for your windshield, get the aquapel, it is light years ahead of RainX and it's nightime glare problems.

Thansk dandy :)

It is more like this... if you pay attention to what goes on around you every day... you learn. If you apply logic to what you see and absorb, you can use it to build your understanding of things. Most people walk through life and miss 99% of what goes on around them when it would be just as easy to take it all in and use it later.

Hehe RainX on a fishtank...

Hey don't laugh untill you try it.It looks great and feels very smooth. It resists fingerprints and salt creep too.
For someone who knows everything ,your quick to shoot down an idea without even trying it.

I don't think he was shooting down your idea, he just thought it was kinda funny to put it on a tank :)

My young eyes don't mind the glare much, definately worth it to me although I'll be happy to try the new stuff once it goes retail.

He was adding to your idea not shooting it down

i hate rainex for my car. glare, smear, yuck.

on my tank? hmmm i might give it a try. maybe that bottle of rainex wont go to waste after all.

should mention that ive been using baby wipes. the kind that have a bit lotion or something in them. huggies i think. anyways they put a nice shine on the tank glass as well as make the mag float side real smooth.

funny but ive used baby wipes for all kinds of things. cleaning the car dash, stains on shirts etc. they clean about anything. i guess if it can get baby poop brown off a baby butt without hurting the baby then they must be strong and gentle

came home and found the baby sitter starting to use clorox cleanups and mean green on my son. she said she couldnt find the wipes. i just about died.

a better solution to that for windshields is using silicone wipers. you install them, and run them dry for 2-5 minutes. It puts a thin coat of silicone over your windshield. Works better then anything ive ever seen for windshields. the water literally falls off the glass.

IMHO carnuba wax from mcguires( that I already have laying around) works great. If you want to try carnuba wax, just make sure you buff, buff, buff to remove excess.

t-bone2, when people interact, they commonly interject their own thoughts or feelings... Not many things are ever really just yes or no :)

Wax has a lot of drawbacks... but can be used. Before you wax you may want to use CLAY compound to clean and smooth the glass. Look on a car detailing site and you will find all you need to know.

silicone wipers ?? I am not sure if I have ever seen these before... Can I get them from my local auto parts store ?? Or are they a special order thing ??

I use a Glass cleaner called Hope's Perfect Glass 100%streek-free it HAS NO ammonia in it, I purchased it at a Bed Bath and Beyond, for $5 bucks, when I was dragged along by the wife to go shopping(at least I benefited from a trip there).
This cleaner works great and stays smooth for at least a week or two. It takes the salt drips right off the front, but I would be cautious if your going to clean the lids I would rinse them very well after with tap water and dry completely.
(Don't use it in the tank!!)
Hope this helps,...... I believe I seen it at Linenes and Things too.
