I got a new 6 Line Wrasse Two days ago. Added him to my display tank. Haven't seen him since. Is he pretty much dead? I don't know what in my tank would eat him. I have a Couple Clown fish and some clown gobies. please advise <sigh>

Turn your head and look down.

Oh wait, you said wrasse.

He may be hiding, or he may be dried up somewhere near your tank. They like to jump.

+1 Wrasses have a habit of doing that. I 'babysat' a friend's leopard for about two weeks and it was out and about the first day. However, my fairy hid in the rocks for three days before coming out just for food. Took him another couple of days before he was out all the time.

I would be prepared for the worst. Also, look around outside your tank if it is not covered or has a little hole because it likes to jump.

I know he has to be around... my sexy shrimp has gone missing. I'm assuming he ate him then went back into hiding

So here's the course of events...

I had a dotty back in my 30 gallon tank. Added a 6 Line. Dotty started attacking 6Line. I tried to CATCH dotty to no avail. Got annoyed..removed all my rocks to CATCH the afore mentioned dottyback. Moved 6 Line to holder tank, moved dotty to quarantine...

Moved some rocks back into my display tank...added 6 Line. Finished rock placement. Havent seen 6 Line since. I'm thinking either i inadvertedly burried him...or hes hiding. I doubt I burried him in rock work. Fish tend to scury off when you move stuff in a tank. I don't think he's dead. My PH is 8.2, but I'll give that a few days. My once out and about sexy shrimp is GONE. I found bits of him floating near his usual hang out.

If I burried the 6 Line, I'm thinking I would more likely to have buried one of my gobies considering theyre MUCH smaller. What say the forum?

<sigh> this is horrible.

This could be a far off guess but how "good" is you cleaner crew? I had a 55gl with probably an overkill cleaner crew and if a fish was dead it would be gone in 2hours max. of course thats just small fish but they wasted zero time. If something died over night it just wouldnt be there when I woke up. Perhaps he died and is already eaten?

Or Ive seen fish wedge themselves in rocks kinda like triggers do. And have actually unknowingly even removed the rock from the system (luckily my GF was there to notice for me) with them still attached. Hes prolly done that and is waiting till he feels safe (since youve been doing a lot of moving) to come out.

Oh wait... you said you have clowns. Do these clowns happen to live in an anemone? Slim chance but anythings possible rite?
