Ok so I posted this pic from the computer and when I checked to see if it uploaded I couldn't see it. Today I checked the post from my phone and I see the pic. It looks like some sort of coral because when its disturbed and it closes up, and the body looks hard and as if its attached to the live rock.

Hidden Cup Coral (Phyllangia sp., possibly P. americana). They are a common hitchhiker on LR and are non-photosynthetic. Feed them meaty frozen foods!

Your lionfish might irritate them but perching on them, but it's not a threat. I have never had them spread from rock to rock. I suppose it's possible but I have not had it happen.

Ok thanks to you all for your help. My lionfish had two spots in the tank that he's either at one or the other at nearly all times, upside down perched on a rock...unless he's hungry so ya I think the're safe

Even if it's hungry it's not going to eat coral, it's a predator.

Ya I mis-worded that. What I meant was he's usually in the same two spots perched upside down, unless he's hungry then he's swimming around looking for me to feed him. And that the hidden cups are safe now that I know they're corals..my bad
