this came off one of my pieces of live rock

<img src="http://pic15.picturetrail.com/VOL617/3951265/10778850/156970272.jpg">

it has been growing ever since

it is not attatched like a colony and they grow individually only near each other

i think it is a button polyp but im not sure

It looks like some sort of zoa. I've seen some small anemones that look like zoas, too, though. Can you get closer shot? The colored oral disc makes me think zoa, but the long separated skirts almost makes me think some sort of small anemone.

We just used to call those button polyps before we knew about zoas. I'm pretty sure it's not an anemone, but I'm no expert in zoanthids.

looks like palys or buttom polyps to me. If you could get a shot of the mouth I could confirm the i.d. becuase there is a chance it could be an anemone

We got some that looked like that a while back, and we were told they were palythoa (I think I spelled that right). It looks VERY much like mine, so I would guess it's not an anemone.
