subzero, you win $5. I was waiting to see if any of the arms would reproduce but I think there's really no chance now that I can't see any remnants anymore.
Basically, after making my initial post, here's what happened:
For about 2 days it continued to slowly move across the glass & 2 legs fell off.
Over the next 2 or 3 days it sat down on the sand with 2 legs completely missing and another nearly gone. I noticed a serpent star tugging at him during this time but the linckia (sp?) must have held on to the rock with it's good arm pretty strongly because the serpent eventually gave up.
Soon after this I found 1 and a half legs connected to half a torso and another half leg sitting somewhere else. Not sure if it got ripped apart or if it just disintegrated? Over the next day, all of the parts were completely missing. I've heard of stars reproducing from a leg but I'm not going to bet on it.
One thing that's really strange is that the anemone hasn't taken any food ever since that happened. I guess he's fasting in remorse for what he did  I hope I didn't injure the anemone when I pulled that star out of there but I highly doubt it since the plastic rod I used barely touched the anemone if at all & the tentacles looked just fine.
Moral of the story: Look ahead of the path of your mag float
Thanks for tagging along...
