I have a Riterii Anemone (Heteractis magnifica) that I just purchased, I went thru a 4 hr acclimation via my 5 gallon bucket process to the 45 gallon show tank, he seemed fine at first- took to my Onyx Perc's right off- he was very small at first, then after day one- huge- a nice purple green color. He attached himself to the front of my glass (ugg) but that's ok for now.
Now, 4 days later, he seems to only open at night, but when my controller ramps the t-5's up, he seems to shrink to nothing- I am very worried.
This tank has nearly perfect water- except nitrate- it is just a tad high- but barely. The System is nearly 3 years old So I did a 15 gallon water change last night, to manage nitrate- this helped, nearly zero now, everyone in this tank is doing really well- always has.
Every thing else tests perfect according to my test kits, all be it dkh is a little high, but my coral seem to prefer this.
PH- 8.1
SG- 1.024
Nitrate nearly 0
Nitrite undetectable
Phos- nearly 0
dKh- 460
temp- 78.8
Water flow- medium via 3 Koralia #2's
Lighting- 6 bulb T5 with 3 attinics, 2 figi purle and a single 6500k- stagered to the sun and the moon.
Tank is a 45 gallon show, 36x12x20 Reef Devil Skimmer in a 20 gallon fuge, 700GPH turn over rate- closed loop.
This nem also seems to prefer the higher temp water- is this normal for this type of nem?
I have and keep bubble's, carpet's and a few others with no troubles- what am I doing wrong? What have I missed?
Thanks for any advice.
BTW, I also have a very sucessful 12 year old 165 gallon reef system, I would place him there but I can't- there are three nem's in there now and I haven't the space.
Again, please advise.
Thankx in advance.
