I don't have enough pods to feed my wrasse

I got a yellow and a green coris wrasse for a few days now. My tank has only been up and running for a short time. I took a few small pieces of LR from my existing tank and use them to seed my new system.. However my wrasse are always out most of the time hunting for pods. What can I feed them for the time being...it seems like theyre only pecking at some foods I put in ..mysis, brine, flakes etc

Depending on the size of your tank, with 2 wrasses you may not be able to keep a pod population. Wrasses are big time eaters and I just feed mine mysis twice a day

Thanks, again. It's members like you that make this such a great forum! Your time is most appreciated.

Im just giving back what was given to me. And this place is great. Id have to admit most of my knowledge was learned from here. I have to admit I probably would have never attempted a SW tank without this site. So thanks Reef Central. You made me a certified reef junkie lol

I used chop shrimp, frozen mysis, brine etc. While they do munch on them occasionally I think their preferred choice is pods.

It takes quite a while for a stable population of pods to be present. Some of my rock I've had for 3 years and some of it has been seeded by my original rock. I have a refugium in the sump and around 100lbs of rock in the display. Not only have I allowed my pods to build up stable populations over time but I once dosed my display with an estimated 1000 pods.

That was around a year ago that i dosed those pods. Now my display and fuge are CRAWLING with pods. I keep a fat and happy dragonet now who can't seem to put a dent in the pod population.

I think the key to success is not only waiting for your tank to be well established but also providing A LOT of live rock and keeping a refugium for the pods to breed in.

get your pods from reefs2go....i just put 6,000 in my big tank...they don't ship as rapidly as other places...but I love their pods!!!

check to see if some your LFS sells live pods. I have one by me that sells live pods and I just real cheap and I would just dump a bunch of them in the tank and I have instant big pod population.
