I feel awful

I had a diamond goby that would jump out of the tank almost daily. one time I was messing in the sump and he managed to smack me in the head before hitting the ground.

Died from what I think was something stuck in its throat because it attempted to eat, but food passed its gills and got real skinny.

After eating well a few days after his ordeal, started taking less and less food. Found him on his side gasping for air tonight. Uh oh.

I was trying not to be a negative nancy this whole time the thread was going on, but I suspected the fish wouldnt make it. A rock sitting on it for even a couple minutes, which surely caused it to struggle, probably caused at the very least some massive internal bruising, if not tearing or outright destroying certain organs or parts of them.

I hope he pulls through, really I do, but I wouldnt think many fish that sit for any amount of time with a heavy object pressed onto them will survive long term.

Hopefully I'm wrong though!

Yeah, didn't make it.

It's not like it was trapped beneath a rock on top for a few minutes, it was actually pinned beneath a big base rock directly on the glass. The whole stack was built and I didn't find the tang for a couple of hours. Probably was lucky to survive this long.

Sad to hear.

What I wonder is how you trapped it. Try and catch the fish with a net you you'd frustrate yourself. Bring a rock and it lays under it?

I didn't pay really close attention to where on the body the rock had him pinned, my mindset was more "Ahh! He's trapped under a rock! Ahh! Get him out!!"

Seemed to have some scraping back near the tail, but I don't know for sure.

And don't ask me how he got under that rock. No idea. Probably hiding and was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'll probably get another tomorrow, they really brighten up a tank. Maybe a Powder Brown instead.

The YT's replacement

The YT's replacement

I had an outbreak of ich in my DT a few days ago, which probably also accelerated the YT's demise. Added a Tomini Tang from Petco right into the DT with predictable results. Stupid.

Started hyposalinity in the DT on Thursday.

So I acclimated this Powder Blue to 1.009 and put him right in the DT, since all of my current fish now have ich and I'm positive the Powder Blue has ich riding along.

Swishing in and out of rocks and exploring it's new home. The Tomini and Powder Blue stop and look each other over, but no aggression so far.

Pretty good size fish 4-5 inches, but thinner than I'd like. Eagerly feeding on formula two flakes and some frozen a couple hours after acclimation. Hasn't noticed the nori scattered all over the rocks. Reading the primer it seems it can be a challenge to get them eating prepared foods, so I'm glad to see that so early. I'd like to get it taking pellets to fatten up. Anyone have luck with this?

Nevermind, threw in about 900 pellets and I think it ate all of them. Wow.

The tank is bare bottom and the tang chugged along the bottom sucking up every pellet it could find.
