I finally fragged my RBTA!

Since my RBTA split again, I decided to have a go at fragging the clone. I was so scared my knees were shaking, but it was SO easy and the halves are doing great this morning!

Now if you could frag those clowns you would be in business... :D Very nice looking clowns and anemones.

Thanks! I just put a divider in the tank and put an anemone on each side. My spawning pair of Leucokranos clowns are coming next week, so I am trying to make their new home perfect :) The snowflakes are still young, but hopefully thay will make some pretty babies when they grow up.

Congrats :)

I am pretty sure I know the pair, get ready for eggs :D

Nice. Im thinking on getting and RBTA and frag it. What tool this you use. I have an X-acto. will it work?

Hexedagain, you might be a bit partial to those babies :) Thanks again for the beautiful fish!
Scott, I know that you know where the clowns are coming from, because this person mentioned your name. I just hope I can raise some of the babies!
GSMguy, yes they are #9 and #10 from ORA.
I actually used a sharp pair of scissors and just cut through the center of the mouth.

A sharp knife is ideal. Start at the mouth and slice outward both ways. I put the halves in a bucket of tank water for an hour, then plopped them back in the tank. Within an hour they were both attached to a rock. Today, there is only a small open area left, and they act like nothing ever happened to them! Just be prepared...it is totally gross!! I didn't expect to see gooey guts. I thought the inside would look like the foot for some reason, but it DIDN'T!! It was WAY nasty!

Clown breeding is still small community :>)

I am quite sure with your patience and persistence, you'll have baby pictures soon enough.

The guts were brown squiggly stuff.
I had a hard time getting the anemone to "Stand" upright. As long as you cut through the mouth, you should be OK. They are like a blob of jelly when they are out of the water and pretty hard to manipulate at all. Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome!

When I get a nem, I will try it...lol. How long should I wait to split it after I acclimate it to the tank?

The one in my main tank is a prolific splitter. I had this clone for 6 months before attempting to "Frag" it. If you get an anemone and it does well for 6 months, you should be able to give it a try.

I personally wouldn't try it any sooner. The longer it has to establish in your tank the better. I am not an expert by any means, but just going by my gut feeling. Maybe someone will chime in that has done it on a newer specimin.
