I find it challenging to adjust my "CO2 Regulator Deluxe - Dual Gauge with Solenoid"

I purchased a "CO2 Regulator Deluxe - Dual Gauge with Solenoid" not too long ago to replace a 15 year old Co2 gage set which was showing signs of wearing out but I find the new value to be much more challenging to adjust. The core of the issue appears to be the needle valve. The valve appears to have a bit of backlash when changing from opening to closing which makes it quite a challenge to get "just right". I don't know if this is the best method but I have taken to using the larger know to set the output (opening the needle valve slightly open and then making small adjustments in the larger control knob until I get the bubble count I want. This works however I am left using a rather low pressure setting which leads to changes in the output during solenoid operations (leading to more tuning).

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi Kenargo,

Thanks for the post, it seems I have been in your shoes too. Working with my regulator at home for my planted tank, I had slowly open the knob on the co2 cylinder about 1 1/2 full turns then adjusted the flow of the co2 with the black knob on the regulator then I had to finely tune the bubble count with the needle valve to get the correct bubble count, I'll be honest it took a few weeks of playing around with it and several adjustments, for the regulator to settle down but it kicked into gear eventually, as far a suggestion I would open any knobs or needle valves slowly as not damage the regulator. I find that out of frustration folks will open the gas suddenly which in turn damages the regulator.

I hope this helps you in getting your regulator working correctly, If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.
