Stupid question in a screwy thread... if you own a 55 gallon reef, and a 150 gallon reef... and you Mess up a 12 gallon nano... WHY WOULD YOU NOT SUCK OUT 13 GALLONS OF WATER FROM THE ABOVE MENTIONED 205 GALLONS AND DO A 100% WATER CHANGE...... WATER FOR WATER... AND THEN TOP OFF THE OTHER TANKS?
Or did I miss something....Something important... like something everyone ate at the meeting....????

Um, Jon... that tank was Jims tank... He donated it to me 2 years ago. I havent taken it down to drill it because I'm taking it down to move it into the 75...
No... seroiusly... am I wrong? why mess with the worry? just siphon it out with a 2" hose, it'll be empty in 30 seconds... and then pump back in 12 new gallons.... a water flush so to speak. You cant tell me there anything wrong with the water in the 55... like Purple-saurus Rex or something....
Maybe Kass wants Nascar style sponsorship for her reef tank from the Kool-Aid Man...

Are you picking on the new American pasttime "Neckcar"? I'm still trying to figure out the lure of watching 25 hillbillies in gas guzzling dodges make left turns for three hours. Its about as exciting as Tournament PingPong or watching the fuzz grow between my toes. Any sport where the all-star list is led by that little banjo-playing kid from Deliverance has got to be banned in the interests of keeping civilization going. Anyone want to see Ned Beatty squeal like a pig while crawling around in his underwear again?

Well JASON Mr. Knowitall where the heck were you at 4am to tell me to do that? Huh huh huh?
My hubby said the same thing the next day lol. He was in bed sleeping (at 6pm haha).
Ok heres the deal though.
When it happened I was making supper (prime rib, taters and mushrooms), acclimating frags and what not. My sis took my kid to get halloween picts and brought her home when I was walking out the door to go get some RO water so I couldnt leave yet or change the water like I wanted to lol.
Then she stayed for awhile and blah blah it got to be later.
I always use my well water on my other tanks but Ive been having problems with some of my zoa's dying so was trying RO water in the nano to see if it made a difference.
At the time everything looked good yet so I just decided to stick with the RO water. None of the corals closed or looked ill at all until the next day when the water turned white from the bacteria bloom. By then I had changed alot of water already so just went with RO again.
Your solution would have been good or I should have just changed more water the first time if I wanted to use RO. I know now lol.
I'm not 1 of those people afraid to do large water changes although draining it and changing it kinda scares me with new SW ( I know your saying to use my other tanks water).
I did drain it down to a few inches and add new saltwater the second day with no ill effects that I know of.
I also just mixed the salt and water and added it about 15 mins later.
I think the biggest problem was the PH dropped down to 7.6 from the acid. At the time I didnt even think of the acid doing that. I was more worried about the OD of sugar.
Oh well it's always a live and learn experience. Believe me anything like that happens again I will be draining the tank right away one way or another.
I could have also just moved all the frags to my 55 and not worried but once all heck broke loose I figured it was better to let them instead of shocking them more.
And again you guys are too funny lol.

:lol: Yea... it's only marketing. Ping pong tournements would be HUGE in the US if NBC, ABC, FOX and all other major networks started giving them attention. The sponsors would start to roll in... along comes the money, and there you have it. A completely boring sport completely worshiped by almost every American.
