I give up on ricordeas.

So they are doing the same thing as last time. Everything was fine they looked all nice and happy then yesterday I noticed they seemed smaller. Today they are melting. Un freaking believeable. I tested everything and all is within perameters. I just dont get it. This time is couldnt have been the light. This is seriously costing me big bucks LOL so no more rics until I get a new tank. Its got to be a bacterial thing. Next GB I am gonna try a diffrent supplier. Its like friggin mission imposible..... these ricordeas will self destruct in 3 weeks. :(

I know that you are a very experienced reefer.
Might be a real dumb question but have you checked you SG and what are you using to check it with? If it is a refractometer. You might want to check the calibration on it.

Last time I had issues with my rics it was a SG issue and my refractometer was out of calibration. My SG was 1.3 instead of my usual 1.26.

HTH

Also really sorry to hear about your Rics.

Actually, I guess I will try to come pick up the ones you still have of mine ASAP. Please let me know when a good time is. I also think I have that frag ready of the zoos you wanted.

Denny I will check it. It is a refractometer, and I am on my way to AT today so I will have them check it. It very well could be that. So frustrating thou. Its at my norm, 1.025, it could have been heat, the tank got to 81 yesterday but honestly I dont think that is what did it. Its been up there before. All the more reason FOR A NEW FRIGGIN TANK!

Sorry to hear that.

The rics I got from you on the last group buy are doing great in my tank. One has split into 2, and another is working on a 1 to 3 split.

Only issues I have had:
1. Should have chained the pink ric down better, as it was in a bad neighborhood and disapeared (probably stolen by the crab gang).
2. The new rics make my 1 old one look sickly and small. ;)

Hope they make a drastic turnaround for you.

mine keep doing the same thing =( gonna try the sg thing..
mine could be from the light though, just found out they dont like right under the light. otherwise im with you- DONE!
good luck.

SG of 1.3 or even 1.26 would be too extremely high.

That sucks, maybe you just need much bigger tank with more stable conditions.

Have you ever tryed checking your ph thru out the day and with the lights off, maybe in that small of a volume of water the swings may be dramatic.

I have one ric I got from Tiff. It's just kinda a brown color not much to look at. A couple of days ago I decided to rescape my rock and everything got moved around. The rbtas are all over the place and one stung that single ric. It shrunk up to nothing and then about an hour later it came back with greens and blues. Pretty strange. There are a lot of tips that are white thou. I think it's done for.

Wow bummer big time! They were looking so good when I was there last week. Drop-em off over here if you want ive not lost a single one. I don't think its temps, my tank gets to almost 85 sometimes (if I forget to shut the blinds and sun hits the tank) and ive not lost a thing.

Your tank was coming back around, sorry to hear that!

This is really sad, as I have only seen pics or your rics ( thats funny ), but were an inspiration to me to branch out and get some better looking rics myself. I agree with everyone else, is crazy and sad!

Denny I knew what you mean lol I myself usually say .26 or .25 not .025 ;)

Gustavo, I agree with a bigger tank and its in the works. I think I am just guilty of trying to put 5 lbs of SH** in a 2lb bag so to speak lol. Overcrouding and chem warfare is just a fine fine line in a nano, and I think I am about a mile over that line HAHAH.

I KNOW Chris!!! When you were here my tank was looking WAY SEXY!! Even when Jess, Melissa and Big red were here everything was looking so damn good! Nothings changed. I didnt even do a WC, just top offs as usual. Maybe they just cant stand being under the light and eventually just crap out. I will move the rest of them to a diffrent area and see is that helps. Honestly I am more ****ed about the superman one. Yesterday it looked fine and now its starting to act funny. ALSO its WEIRD they dont really melt..... they start tearing ??????? Like the mouths will drop out or the edge will show a tear and then BAM an hour later they are almost gone. I did a small WC yesterday since they are probally gunking up the tank.

I agree on the heat, my first nano 5 gallon got up to 84 on occasion. The thing that I dont get it is everything else is fantastic. Jesse you should see those nuclear greens NOW! In 2 weeks I have 4 new heads and the small ones that you saw when you were over are dime sized. AGHHHHHHHHH SO IRRITATING!!!!! :uzi: :fish1:

As of right now 5-6 look fine (out of 15), the rest are not happy and I have tossed 4. Ok so im gonna go move them, and take some water to AT to make sure my kits arent off.

Well your 3 miles away if you want to try and save some if it gets to bad, let me know. Your welcome to space in my tank.

I know people keep saying that but honestly its not a smart thing for me or you to do... if this is some bacterial infection and I tossed them in your tank and you lost all yours, I would own you my first born or something HAHHAHA.

I feel your pain little missy while I was on vacation last week I had a softball sized rock of my Blood Dumas shrooms (1 year old). Get covered in this white slime and were eaten clean off the rock. The feather dusters that were in the rock are fine and the shrooms all around the other ones are fine and they were touching them and nothing happened. Even the bloods that had dropped and moved else where in the tank are still doing great just this one rock was striped clean. :eek2:

All levels are testing normal and temps hit nothing above 82 which is normal.
