The guy I bought it from has no idea what this is and has been in the hobby for many years.

I asked if it was bleached and he said he has no clue because he does not know what it is.

Is there a way to get a picture on the verrucae? Kind of looks like a bleached H. Malu but I am not to sure.

Hmm.. maybe.

Here is a pic on google image seach for "heteractis malu hawaii anemone"

H malu has less tentacles than your nem i think its H. crispa but a picture of its mouth and foot would help

I did google image seach for "heteractis crispa" and this was the closest match. I would rather not disturb him to take pics of foot but I will get one of its mouth.

Kinda looks like a bleached Aurora. And I dont think it will do to well in your tank, that algae looks like the type you get when your first set up a fish tank. Is your tank really 4 months new?

Out of all the ones mentioned the Aurora is by far the closest.

Ok so it seems I have a "Heteractis aurora Beaded Anemone"

:)

So by looking at my pic, can it be saved?

i still think it is a crispa it has too many tentacles to be aurora
and yes it can be saved tell us about your system 4 months is very young

Yes. Good clean water(strong skimmer), good lighting, and moderate flow. Have you tried feeding it? Krill, silversides, squid etc...anything meaty and see if it will take it. If it does you have your work cut out. If it doesnt you will have to keep those things mentioned above constant, and hope it regains its zooxanthellae.

By the looking at the pic it looks like its attached to rock? Or is set there with out being attached?

Only flaw is your tank may be to young to have any species of anemone in there. Have a buddy give you or buy a piece of LR with alot coraline on it to speed up the process. Also if you have LS, buy some again from someone who has a mature, and established system. People who do this usually add an anemone the same day the tank is set up, especially if they re-use their existing rock, sand etc.

I am running bare bottom with lots of flow.

I cooked all my live rock until there was zero detritus left.

I added a few fish (Powder Blue Tang and True Percular Pair) and they are all doing fine. I also added a coral and clam (pink birds nest and Crocea Clam) and they also were just fine so I decided to at least give this anemone a try. I have never seen anything like it and couldin't walk away from it. :eek1:

My water conditions have been perfect for over 1month.

The algee is due to the fact that I only had 20snails but I got 40 more today.
