On Sunday, I went to Gilbert to go and pick up a 55 gallon tank with a overflow and canopy, and stand... or so it looked like, in the CL photo. We get there, the gentleman was in a bit of a rush, so I didn't really get a chance to take a full , loong look that I had wanted to. Not to mention, the gentleman wasn't too sure of the product he was selling which was a bummer because I had many questions about the peculiar plumbing and such. But for 250, I couldn't beat it. I decided that I wasn't completely satisfied, but that I did see great potential in it , so we agreed on a price of 225. I get home, and begin messing with my new toy, and the two boxes which he included. I begin looking in the boxes, and the aquarium, and realize.... all of the needed plumbing , sump, protein skimmer, and return pumps and tubing and more are in the boxes. I then decided to take the power compacts that were retrofitted into the canopy. As I took the pc off, I noticed a sticker , with a blue and silver shine, which said " custom made by Lee Mar" no wonder everything looked too professional, esp. for that price.... so now, all of this is fantastic, but I haven't got the slightest clue as to how to put this together - I was good with legos , but this might require some expert advice lol SO, I would like to humbly inquire, that if anybody lives in the North Phoenix area that has an understanding of the closed loop, and the plumbing , and could perhaps point me in the right direction, I will definitely make it up to you , in beers, dry rock, or some good ol cash  Or, if anybody knows of any reputable LFS that might come and set it up? I will try to post some photos as soon as possible, and when this is set up, be on the look out for my " Reefer Madness " thread!! cheers!

I would go chat with the guys at Aqua Touch. They are off of 32nd and Cactus. Very knowledgeable staff without egos.

Thank you all very much for showing me quite the support- I am amazed, and continue to be amazed with the generosity of all "fellow reefers" lol. I have had the pleasure of meeting a few people on here, ( thank you ADA33, and Kalakuhan for your hospitality!!) and continue to learn in this hobby through the experts with their advice for the novice as myself. Thank you all!! and with that, here are a few photos of the base for my project

Dang, this wasn't as exciting as I thought. I was hoping you were going to say, "So I went to buy this tank, and it was being sold by this voluptuous red-head. She gave me that look, winked at me and ...." You get the point.

Nice tank anyway.

EJ, Nice setup! Can't go wrong with LeeMar! Not to mention the setup matches all your furniture.
Looks like you figured out the connections as well. Not sure what that extra hole in the overflow is for?? unless he had another return line going to it from the top.

yeah, it looks like a return bulkhead. You can go to your LFS and get a locline npt fitting and some locline to finish it off.

the hole in the overflow midpoint- what is the purpose of that??
I would recommend plugging this hole. Reason being that if power was lost to the return pump. The tank will siphon all the water from the tank to the sump up to that point. (unless you use a backflow valve) But to me not worth the risk. :eek2:

Even better. She came out with ALL of that, pizza n some cold ones- I chose Lee Mar to take home instead. mmm... leemar pizzas... lol

Pete!! I was messing around with it to see how much I can put together, but really, I don't seem to understand the big picture! In the photo of the sump, there is white thick PVC pipe on the right side- why is there an extra opening? and also, if there are altogether three holes ( two on back wall, and one on midpoint overflow), how are they supposed to hook up, to maximize efficiency in flow? I still have a seperate rio pump which I assume is meant to be hooked up , to ... atleast one of the holes? hmm.... I'm used to running OUT of parts , instead, I have extra pumps n stuff, which I can't seem to figure out, lmao!
