I got my card in and thought it would be nice to introduce myself before seeing you guys at the meeting. I've met some of you already, but for those who I haven't...

I originally grew up here in nashville, but moved to Knoxville for high school and college. Now I'm back here for grad school! Anyway, a little bit about myself. I've been keeping aquariums for as long as I can remember, and marine systems for a little over 10 years now. My brother got me into freshwater when I was younger and it grew from there. I was part of the East TN Reef Club since the beginning and my obsession continued a lot there. I went to UTK and graduated with a biology degree in ecology and evolutionary biology. After getting out, I worked with Matt and Trey to develop Sustainable Aquatics. That was a great experience that further fueled my obsession. It also allowed me to learn and stretch my horizons.

I guess like most of you, I enjoy keeping everything and have tried to keep almost everything under the sun. I don't really have a favorite thing, but I do like keeping new, different things. My general interests are in marine breeding and propagation, specifically on large scale production. I do believe it is important to look towards sustainability for our hobby. My newer interests are in disease quarantine and management, as this more similarly relates to what I'm studying now.

Anyway, I thought I would drop in to say hi. I've met a few of you and can't wait to get to meet the rest of you guys. I love hanging out and just learning from everybody. From the people I've met, everybody seems very cool in MTRC. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. I'm in Brentwood if anybody just wants to hang out and get lunch/dinner sometime.

Enough about me, I would love to know what you guys like. What is your favorite thing to keep, or your interests?

Hey Donny, There Is a Few guys In Franklin and a bunch of us down here In Spring Hill If you don't mind coming down here you can come over my house any time you like. I'm kinda on the older side of hanging out but there are a few guys closer to your age here that are single and may do dinner and such. As we have already met you can give me a call anytime you want to check my stuff out and I'm sure others will think like wise. I'll PM you my # after I finish here and you can call If you want to stop over. SPS Is my Favorite and the more color the better, But doing the actual build Is IMO the best part.

Hey Donny my name is Bart. I am new to the club also. I am just getting back in to the hobby after a few years out. I keep a 300 gallon reef that I am just beginning to populate. I plan to do a small tank after the large one gets "finished". Like that ever happens!

I am in manchester in the middle of the sticks, but I look forward to meeting you at the meeting.

Hey Donny!

:wavehand:

We have done, and need to do lunch again sometime soon. Can never get enough Chili Burrito! :D Or maybe next time Pei Wei?

We also need to go diving this summer! There will be a few MTSU trips to a quarry or three that maybe you could piggy back on, if you'd like. If we're lucky, we'll get Brian to go again, too. ;)

Bart - Awesome man, I definitely look forward to meeting you as well. What are the dimensions of your 300g? Sounds like a fun project in the works.

Brandon - We do need to get lunch again some time. I had Chile Burrito last night and have eaten there a many times already, thanks to you. I'm up at Belmont during lunch everyday, so as soon as there's a day that I'm here in Brentwood, I'll give you a call. Also, definitely keep me informed about any diving events. I need to get back out there before I get rusty. Any plans for florida trips this summer? I'd be up for those too.

Welcome to the club you said you were going to grad school where? I am also going back and getting a MS in Accounting at MTSU.

Waynesworld, is it Wayne I presume? That's awesome about going back for a MS. I eventually want to know a little bit more about accounting and stuff. Always thought it would be useful. I guess you're going back to become a CPA?

But, I'm currently going to Belmont for pharmacy. I'm in my second year and have 2 more years after this. But its going by pretty quick. I'm sure your MS will be too.

Ya it is Wayne I am not sure if I want to go the CPA route but may go on some time and get a PhD to teach. I have one class after this year that I have to take but I may stretch it out and take a few others that I want too. I have a daughter that is accepted to Belmont for nursing she also got a 4 yr ROTC scholarship to pay all the tuition.

Teaching is definitely the way to go if that's what you want to do. I say do it! Congrats to your daughter for getting accepted and a scholarship to Belmont. They aren't exactly the cheapest school, so I bet that helps out a lot. I wish I had some scholarships. :lmao: If we worked with the nursing students more, I would keep and eye out for her. But unfortunately, I don't know any of them.
