I got my card in and thought it would be nice to introduce myself before seeing you guys at the meeting. I've met some of you already, but for those who I haven't...
I originally grew up here in nashville, but moved to Knoxville for high school and college. Now I'm back here for grad school! Anyway, a little bit about myself. I've been keeping aquariums for as long as I can remember, and marine systems for a little over 10 years now. My brother got me into freshwater when I was younger and it grew from there. I was part of the East TN Reef Club since the beginning and my obsession continued a lot there. I went to UTK and graduated with a biology degree in ecology and evolutionary biology. After getting out, I worked with Matt and Trey to develop Sustainable Aquatics. That was a great experience that further fueled my obsession. It also allowed me to learn and stretch my horizons.
I guess like most of you, I enjoy keeping everything and have tried to keep almost everything under the sun. I don't really have a favorite thing, but I do like keeping new, different things. My general interests are in marine breeding and propagation, specifically on large scale production. I do believe it is important to look towards sustainability for our hobby. My newer interests are in disease quarantine and management, as this more similarly relates to what I'm studying now.
Anyway, I thought I would drop in to say hi. I've met a few of you and can't wait to get to meet the rest of you guys. I love hanging out and just learning from everybody. From the people I've met, everybody seems very cool in MTRC. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. I'm in Brentwood if anybody just wants to hang out and get lunch/dinner sometime.
Enough about me, I would love to know what you guys like. What is your favorite thing to keep, or your interests?
