I hate coralline...

I dont know why people want it so bad. I'm to the point on my 72 where I have to chisel it off every week or I cant see in any more.

Anyone have any solutions?

I got a cool little metal scraper attachment that hooks onto my mag float. It's easy to take on and off and takes the coraline off with almost no effort.

Box of 100 razor blades from Lowes or Home Depot? Get a brand-spanking new tank? Wear a blindfold?

People usually want it to cover their liverock, making it pretty and purple.... but not covering the front or viewing panes, so I can see why you hate it so much compared to other people.

 Yep that's the sad but true story. Everybody 'thinks' they want it. However it doesn't only grow on their rocks.

you know, if you take a magfloat cleaner and give your glass a good once over every few days, it'll keep the coralline from going crazy.

I recently gave away my pincushion urchin because it was eating the coralline algae off my live rock. My nice purple rocks were starting to look pretty odd with all their little protrusions gnawed down bare :-D The urchin did help keep the glass clean as well, though it still needed scraping every once in a while.

The other downside? The urchin would drag along just about anything not bolted down, including frags, rubble and other livestock :-)

as long as you clean the front glass with a magnafloat regularly it doesnt get built up like that :hammer:
