I hate FedEx

I placed an order Sunday evening for 4 acro frags, a six line wrasse, and a few hermits.

The frags shipped from Rhinelander last night and arrived this morning. I just started acclimating them, they look ok so far from what I can see through the top of the bag.

The wrasse and hermits did not arrive. I checked the tracking number and they show still in the sort facility in Casper, Wyoming. I called customer service and told them that if the package did leave Casper going to Scottsbluff today, that I would arrange to be in Scottsbluff tonight to retrieve it. She said she would call me back.

She did call back, to tell me that the package was lost, and that it might actually be in Memphis, TN and wouldn't arrive until tomorow.

She is supposed to call back when and if they find it.

The weather is good right now (75) so I suppose there is a chance that the wrasse will still be alive. We'll see.

I have had terrible luck with FedEx. If I had every coral that arrived a day or two or three late and was dead, alive in my aquarium, I would have upgraded to a 300 gallon by now. I'm batting about 50% with those people. :mad2:

wademcarthur,

Thank you for your post and recent order. We sincerely apologize for the delay with your package. Unfortunately, we have little control over our shippers and certainly appreciate your frustration. We have checked with Federal Express and there seems to have been an incorrect scan. Your package is now in Memphis, TN and expected to be in your area this evening and on the truck for delivery tomorrow November 8, 2006. We have refunded your shipping and handling since the package did not arrive promptly. Of course, as always our 14-day guarantee is in effect and we will do our best to resolve any issues or problems.

You guys do have good customer service.

I'm not worried at all about losing money. I'm just worried that the fish won't be ok.

FedEx makes so many mistakes and kills so much livestock.

A wild caught fish or coral survives being harvested in Figi, processed through California, and then put in stock somewhere else. The FedEx kills it.

Well, the six line wrasse arrived this morning. The water was pretty cold, but I acclimated him and he is alive.

He's still pretty shy. I didn't see him for a few hours and feared the worse, but he's coming into view now and staying right around the same rock.

I fed some brine shrimp and he ate a few, so looks like he'll be ok.

Superb packaging from liveaquaria.

Thanks for the help.

I know the warranty will cover any losses, and I agree the health and well being of the animals is most important...but I want to share my most recent experience.

I recently received one of many orders from Live Aquaria, all have arrived flawlessly...until now.

FedEx delivered to me a dripping wet cardboard box. I immediately opened the styrofoam box to find the bags in shambles, upside down, loosely packed, and two were leaking. There was a half inch of water in the styrofoam box in which lie the heater packs...the bags were extremely cold. The gold nugget pleco was in maybe a of cup water...lifeless, I took it for dead. I could see the clownfish was at least still swimming, the court jester goby and clam showed little movement.

To make a long story short, fortunately 28 hours later all are alive. Still if they survive in the short term, what are the long term affects...if any?

Nonetheless, I find it unacceptable for a premium shipped package to arrive in this condition. Given the extraordinary packaging job of Live Aquaria, I can only think the shipper is to blame. There is no excuse, Live Aquaria and its customers should be refunded for incidents like this.

Tonyh67,

Thank you for your post. We apologize for the delivery issues with your LiveAquaria shipment. If you have not already done so, please call us at 1-800-334-3699 or PM us with your order information so that you may be properly compensated for your shipping charges. Rest assured that this order, as with all of our orders, will be covered by our 14-Day Arrive Alive, Stay Alive Guarantee. As long as your specimens have successfully acclimated and display no ill effects, there should be no risk of long-term concerns.

I really wish you guys could switch to UPS. FedEx is liars. I had an order of 8 fish coming this past Wednesday, and tracked it online all day while I sat at home waiting for them to arrive, as apposed to going somewhere. After seeing no one for a few hours, I checked them tracking again....it said that it had been delivered 2 hours ago at my front door!!! Needless to say, it wasn't my front door they delivered it to. So I called Fedex and they said they would check into it and call me back. Half hour later, guy shows up and never says a word to me about where he had been. Really urked me! Its around freezing here in IN. Water in bags was pretty cold, but was packed well. All fish lived thru first day, but had a death the next morning. Already got refunded, thanks for the customer support, but fedex sucks.

LOL:) Not laughing at your loss, just imagining what would happen to all those people employed by FedEx in Rhinelander just to service DFS if they made the switch to UPS:)

I do quite a bit of shipping in my job, and I can tell you without hesitation that FedEx is the best. Of course, you will have certain areas or drivers that are not up to standards, but this will happen with any courier. Also, keep in mind that this is by far the busiest time of year for these companies. My local FedEx driver told me they all had to work on Sunday, Christmas Eve, processing packages, to ensure they got Xmas day off! One bit of advice I can offer is to always pay the extra $10 for priority shipment. That is is the first thing the rivers worry about, getting all the priority packages delivered. They won't even think about the other stuff until that is done. I had a driver deliver a priority box to my next door neighbor at 10am once, but not drop off a box for me until 3pm because it wasn't priority.

I order a TON of stuff and I get alot from FedEx. I ordered some Seahorse SUPPLIES not the actual seahorses from an online vendor. but the box said "seahorses" on it. Of course this co. made me sign for it and of courses I wasn't home!! instead of taking this package an hour away to the Fedex Headqtrs and deliver the next day, the driver came all the way back to my house later to ensure I got my package. he was very nice and courteous and said he didn't want my seahorses to die! above and beyond and I was very appreciative, even though they were just supplies:)
