I hate TMCC!

TMCC (Tropic Marin Coral Cure) has let me down for the last time!

I dip every coral before the goes into my tank. Acros get TMCC and Interceptor, everything else gets TMCC as per label instructions.

I discovered AEFW about 4 months ago. I threw that coral out without treating it. AEFW was back again about a month ago. I removed all my Acros and dipped them in TMCC. So far so good, but I'm not putting any bets on it.

I discovered Monti Eating Nudibranchs about 8 months ago. I picked them off, and dipped all Montis in TMCC once per week for 5-6 weeks. Today, I find more MEN.

I think I'm going to switch to Coral Rx. Any thoughts?

No, but I do have a Zoa tank that I setup to have the dual purpose of being suitable for SPS quarantine since anything SPS won't harm the Zoas. I should start using it.

Coral RX is top notch stuff. Seems to kill everything off the frag instead of just stunning it for half an hour before it dies. Plus you can see clearly through it, opposed to being foggy or bloody looking.

Revive coral cleaner works well to. TMCC is iodine based and is a bit to harsh on SPS corals anyway. My vote is for Coral rx or Revive coral cleaner.

i love coralRX it kills critters FAST! I've used it exclusively on my 55 SPS dom project and received SPS from 7 different sources and no hitchhikers in my system! Very nice on the corals as well, ive dipped for up to 15 minutes on some, it doesn't cause them to brown out either.

I use Seachem Reef Dip. I dip every new addition. If there are any inverts on the coral they all die a quick painful death. Just added some new coral yesterday and they had some pods on them. The pods instantly come off the corals and swim in circles for about 20-30 seconds then die. I have also seen dead flat worms in my dipping container. I also mix up a stronger dip than the bottle tells you to and dip for about 10-15 minutes.

I used TMCC for awhile and hated the staining brown solution. My pump was messed up and it would get all over everything when I tried to use it. Seemed harsh on my corals too. I recently changed to Coral Rx and the corals seemed to tolerate it better, and it didn't make a mess like the staining dye bottle of TMCC. Coral Rx just smells like you are putting your coral into a bucket of Pinesol.... LOL

Ok, I think I'll go buy a bottle of Coral Rx. I have always despised how the iodine-based dips stain the corals. It takes them so long to color up to 100% again.

everyone who keeps loads of sps, should have a good selection of wrasses, to help control pests.

Biochoeres chrysus*
Biochoeres cosmetes*
Bodianus bimaculatus
Halichoeres iridis*
Hemicoris chloroptera*
Macropharyngodon bipartitus
Macropharyngodon meleagris
Pseudocheilinus hexataenia*

this is my pest control, and never had any isues since i added them..

i ben through the same monti eating nudi snails, and aefw... not any more :) (i got around 500L, the ones with a * are the ones who are known to take pests)

Thanks Star! Many of the Wrasses you mention get quite large or are too active for a 90 gallon tank imo. I do have a McCosker's Fairy Wrasse on order, and I might pick up the Candy Hogfish they have too if they will get on together ok.

I have never had a issue with corals getting stained with iodine based dips. All good dips have iodine. Reef Dip mixes clear and does not stain, has always worked well for me. I have seen it kill flat worms and AEFW.

Iodine is what kills the pests.

Yup, but there are other things that kill pests too such as Levamisole, Milbemycin oxime, Metronidazole, Praziquantel, Methylene blue, Minocycline, etc. ;) Oh, and don't forget "proprietary blends of natural extracts" such as those in Coral Rx. Hehehe.
