I hate weather people...

Honestly I knew it wasnt going to snow, simply because Ive always lived here & it never does. What really bothers me is that Its all they have talked about since Sunday. Its so stupid. On top of that school has been cancelled & there hasnt even been a flurry. So the entire Metro school system has been shut down & there are no reprecussions for the weather predictors that has once again called a huge scare. How freaking stupid is that. If I performed so poorly in my job like that I would be written up or have a temporary vacation.

Any one else has thoughts on this?

Light dusting of snow here in Brentwood. Honestly, I hate snow and cold weather, so even a dusting is too much for me. Meteorologists are idiots 80% of the time. I remember once I was watching TV and the weather was on, saying there was a slight chance of rain. It was raining outside. Idiots.

Let's be real here... forecating weather is not an easy thing. It is not really the weather peoples fault. They make the best prediction based on technology available.

Who I do blame is the public at large. A call for 1-3" of snow causes a panic around here. I spent Christmas back up north in Chicago and it snowed the entire time. What did we do about it? Nothing, went on with our lives. Even had a nice trip down town in some pretty heavy flurries.

Whether it snows or not who cares. No reason to close the schools and get your panties in a bunch. If you have to drive, slow down a LITTLE.

There Is already several cars In the ditch on Buckner Rd off Hwy 31 coming down that little hill, and several more on Hwy 31. Looks like they are right closing the Schools because people here can't drive In even a dusting!
We went to school even If there was a foot of snow back east no Holiday for a little Snow. LOL:uzi:

LOL. Amusing. I remember driving in blizzards where you can barely see the car in front of you, on ice, snow plows all over, etc. I had no issues driving in bad weather. Here it's not snow that worries me, it's the drivers like what you mentioned above, hah!

I agree ^ though I still like to give weather people a hard time. I was raised in the mountains in arizona at a mile elevation. It snowed. we enjoyed it. The problem there was all the retards from california who swerve off the road when a snowflake hits their windshield.

LOL. Amusing. I remember driving in blizzards where you can barely see the car in front of you, on ice, snow plows all over, etc. I had no issues driving in bad weather. Here it's not snow that worries me, it's the drivers like what you mentioned above, hah!

I drove a Semi for 25 yrs In some of the worst storms and In some of the worst places In this country and all Of Canada. I woke up In London Ontario one time and my windows were covered In snow after 8 hrs of sleep, Well It took me an hour to dig my way out the window seems they got 4 feet of snow overnight and the drift on my truck was about 10 ft high. The Co that I was parked at waiting to deliver my load said to give them an hour and they would have the place plowed and they would unload me. Well they did and I went on my merry way, Roads were plowed and traffic was moving fine the hardest part was getting out of the truck LOL

I too hail from northern illinois, I think its funny that the schools were closed. I was actually snowed in once.....after 24 inches overnight...only because it drifted the road closed. Its not really that hard to drive in either, or course thats a different story for truckers! I kinda want it to snow, reminds me of home!

Justin Bruce on News 2 is a meteorologist from Penn State and we met and talked to him at a game watch one time. He had come here from North Dakota (can't say I blame him), but he was *****ing about having to forecast the weather here because snow in the winter time almost never really happens (whereas in ND it always did).

He said the temp is almost always right around freezing and the line between snow, rain, and ice is razor thin. He also said you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. The safest thing, he said, is to predict snow if there's a chance it will happen. Why? Well, if snow happens, people aren't prepared, and it shuts down the city and/or causes people accidents, they are going to be A LOT more ****ed off than if it just doesn't snow...

Also, look at the kind of pressure these weather people probably get from their networks and station managers. How much better do you think the news stations ratings were this week because everyone was predicting snow?

I think if you could really get in the ear of most of these meteorologists, you'd get a much better view of the real predictions... minus the hype and overreaction.

I have friends that live in London Ontario Bill, so I know exactly what you are talking about. They get crazy lake effect snow there.
