that i HATE painting :mad2: stupid stand & canopy & all the nooks & crannies
rant.gif

that is all LOL

I hear you! After 5 days of painting at night, it is past getting old. I am very glad I decided to put the stand in wall and do not have to worry about finish work!

don't even remind me that i have to paint the back of my display tank :mad2:

luckily, the canopy support i redid goes all the way across the back in a solid piece that is getting painted as well.....oh & most of it will be a rock wall

hopefully 1-2 coats well be plenty for the back of the tank

for the stand & canopy, i'm glad it is sandply & i hit it w/ the orbital sander. that & the act that black is the great concealer LOL

Finished the final coat of latex on the underneath and bottom parts tonight. (Why am I painting the bottom? :hmm3: )

Two coats on the rest tomorrow weather permitting and I am done! (Until I add more to it... or make a change... or scratch the paint installing... Arghhh! :mad2: )

i'm not doing as many coats on the "undersides"...the places you don't see just looking at it, but trying to get some coverage to those areas.

i had them tint my kilz so it would be easier to cover w/ the black, so it came out a light blueish color when applied. that is making it a bit easier to cover.

i still need to go back over the inside of the stand & canopy w/ a brush to get into the corner & small edges where the roller doesn't get & 1 or 2 more coats on all the outside & otherwise easily viewable areas

One more top coat down... if the temp holds enough, final coat on tonight! I can not wait to be done.

If you can not paint tomorrow and are bored... come on over and help me move the stand in ;)

Painting is definitely not fun. The only consolation is that if you do it right the first time, you don't have to do it again as often or do something that is a lot more work. Because SW ruins just about everything... this is particularly true when doing things for this hobby.

i think i'm done painting.....no more blueish primer can be seen & everything looks to have good coverage

*throws confetti*

well i got it all upstairs & started mocking up where i want it beside the tv stand so when sitting on the couch, you see the plasma & the aquarium in front of you.

well, to leave enough room to open the door on the side meant moving the tv stand down so far that the tv is not even close to centered on the couch...so far so, that you can hardly see the tv from the other end position on the couch :mad2:

so it looks like i get to completely rearrange the living room. gonna have to flip everything around 180 degrees cause the wall the couch is on is quite a bit wider, so i should be able to set it so that the tv is still somewhat centered on the couch & still leave enough room for the aquarium stand & room to open the side doors

gee, that means i get to empty the tv stand(since i can't move it w/ all the equipment in it....already tried), move it & the couch & completely rerun the wiring for the satelite, home threatre surround sound, phone for the satelite & computer, & all the tv, dvr, dvd, & home theatre wiring in the tv stand

the room rearrange got put on hold for a few days....tweaked my back uuuum picking somebody up (& that's all i say about that LOL)

i now have another thing to add to the to do list.....assemble another tank. LOL

i stopped by glasscages today to pick up one of their 1/2 of a 5g tanks (8x16x6t) to use as a container for the mag 9 that i am gonna use for the closed loop. this way it will contain any water should the mag leak (which i have heard some are if used externally). i wanted to drill the bottom to put a drain into the sump below. well i could've swore the girl on the phone told me it was made out of 1/4" glass which would be easy to drill. well when i got there, come to find out they are 1/8" glass. didn't even want to attempt to drill something that thin, so i had them cut me pieces to construct the tank....sides still out of 1/8 but the bottom out of 1/4. gonna drill the bottom & also the side piece of the ato/rdsb tank before i assemble the 2 tanks. that way if i break something, i can replace it before doing all the silicone work.

yay...another diy project :mad2:

You know... you could just run it internally and be done with it. :D

..... to use as a container for the mag 9 that i am gonna use for the closed loop
:p

was originally gonna be for the sump return & an over the top manifold, but i started to worry that it'd be too much & create microbubbles, so i decided to change it & use a mag3 for the sump return w/ the rear loc-lines & the mag9.5 for the closed loop on the over the top manifold for that flow back into the tank
