i found something real odd. i have this type of spiderwebb thing that comes out of a tube and it spread out like a worms. its not a feather duster, i have a few but the crowns are clear????. but what could these be. im seeing more and more of them. oh when something touches them like my hermit it retracts like a retractable tape measure. lol that the best way i can discribe it.

Thanks,
Eric

I've got a few of those as well, not sure what exactly they are but I've yet to see any damaged caused in my tank by there presence. Most are simply white strings coming out of the tubes but a few are red and a couple look to be green with dark green stripes on them. wierd.

oooh, the ones I was talking about travis have more of a white tube, and get larger then those, I have some of those too.

Yeah thats what i have coming out of some of my rocks. what is this stuff?

Those are good guys. Occassionally their feeding tentacles will run across a coral and aggitate it, but it won't do any real harm.

Papagimp, it almost sounds like that you are talking about Peanut Worms.

Peanut worms? I don't really think they look like peanuts but for that matter my clown fish really don't look like clowns.

I think those are tube worms. I have a bunch in my tank. They don't seem to bother anything. Except when you go to rearrange your rock and scratch your hand on them. I think there are certain butterfly fish that eat them.
