I think i was in the store when that was going on.... Was it yesterday afternoon ???
Lol - yep.
I have been on both sides of the customer/vendor situations for some time (not with fish - but the concepts are still the same)
Not really a "big" deal at all, just struck me as odd that the employee was being so negative in the way he was analyzing the different components of my tank. Now - I have had some similar discussions with the Sho tank staff about the salt. They confirmed that my ALK was a little low (if I see anything that is borderline on my kit - I take a sample in). I did some research - the salt that I use is a little low out of the bucket.
Now- we talked about various fixes - and changing salt was of course one of them. But since I had not started my kalk topoff just yet (running now)- and the fact that I have ~ 2 buckets remaining of salt, I was going to take it slow and not swap out something as major as a salt mix too soon. I would rather buffer the alk if needed short term (though I did not have to).
Several posts on this-- I did not mention the store name for a reason. Sure, most here will probably be able to figure out exactly what store this is - but I did not want to turn this into a bashing session. They definitely had healthy looking livestock and good prices. I will be back, but probably more of the "i want this, bag it up" type of trip.
I am also not against constructive criticism of my setup. Livingcorals picked up the mantis I trapped - and I was plugging him for information (thx BTW). There is a huge difference between reading about this subject and the real thing. He was very patient and gave me good advice.
Sullyman - oops, Matt, Mark, 223-224, whatever it takes. I did not notice this.
FYI - you can call me Dave or W if you like - the 'w16227' tag is just the common ID that I use for message boards. It is one of my old work IDs - and is always available.
