Another plow scam hit Western NY. I decided to help by plowing for free for scam victims. Crazy? Maybe... Another video can be seen at wivb.com under the call for action section, but it doesn't have me talking. I had to record this with my camera, so the quality isn't great....

I figured since we haven't had much snow at all ( I think we are about 4 1/2 feet below average right now), costs are way down so I could use some of that saved fuel money on these drives. I'm trying to get a Ford Ranger (very small driveways) right now, so that I can dedicate a truck to that route and take on a few more. It's tough though since it's tax time. My normal route is about 20 minutes south of that area. I have a guy that will volunteer if I get a truck for him to run. I have already gotten a call from a church offering a donation for fuel or to put towards a truck.

I sure hope these scammers get jail time. It's pretty sad when you rip off elderly disabled people and dont think twice about it.

i may soon be selling my 2004 fx4 ranger. i believe somewhere in the 70,000 mile range(i'll have to check) i just replaced a bunch of parts in front suspenion. because its the fx4 it has the bigger suspension and has a tow package on it and a v6. things a beast in the snow....great 4 wheel drive.(although it has never been of road) great for winters. love the truck and its been paid for for over a year now but we have a kid now and i need to go back to the f-150 so i can put a childseat in it.

This country needs more people like you!
I try to do my 5 neighbors driveways when I have time. It's to bad their neighbors don't help them out. Most are elderly or to busy with their newborn kids.

Good for you.

I can't watch videos on this PC - what exactly is a plow scam?

I'm finally prepared for a huge load of snow this year (beastly snow blower and a tractor with a snow blade) but we've barely gotten anything. I can imagine what this is doing to people who depend on snow removal for income.

Basically, a couple of people went around getting pre-payment (anywhere from 3-5 hundred dollars) for a season of plowing and then never showed up to plow. So far, there has been about 90 complaints to the attorney general. That doesn't count the snow birds who are in Florida (or other warm locale) who have no idea that their property isn't being maintained. I'd say about 8% of my customer base are snowbirds.

The guys who plow and get paid by the push are definitely suffering. I get pre-paid for my contracts. So the less it snows, the more I will make. On the other hand, on the winters that we get tons of snow, guys like me get our butts handed to us.

Its ok though....We're snowfighters and we love pushing the white stuff around!

Wow, that's terrible (the scam). I've never hired a plower so I didn't know that pre-paid contracts were common. I was trying to figure out how you'd scam someone since I had assumed people paid after each time the work was done.

Well the woman behind the name of the "company" was arrested today. Turns out, Irony bit her in the butt....

She tried to evade police by trying to back up around them when they pulled up to her house. She got her car stuck in a snow pile beside her own driveway. I bet once she calms down from being thrown in jail and charged in 3 different town courts for the same crimes, and figures that one out, she'll bust a blood vessel in her eye.

Ha! Irony is a ***** - I hope they through the book at her!

People like you Ryan make her look even worse than she already does...
