I may be getting back in the hobby soon!!!

My wife just called and told me I'm getting an early birthday present! One of her fellow teacher's husband is selling a tank (she can't remember, either 70 or 90 gallons) stand, and sand pretty cheap, and she's getting it for me! I have not seen it yet and have no idea as to condition, etc, but I'm excited anyway!!

This also means I'll be in the market soon for all the accessories. Unfortunately, my budget right now is $0 or close to it, but I don't care, I'm excited about starting up a tank again!! WHEEE!!!!!

Just wanted to share. I look forward to spending time here at the MTRC forums again, and maybe at the meets by the end of the year.

Yea, I remember people were starting to go crazy for acans about a year or so ago? I'm cool with that, as I don't really care for them all that much, and maybe since everyone is paying so much attention to them I can get the SPS and softies I want at better prices now!

I'm going to be starting very slowly this time, waiting until I can afford good equipment the first time, instead of buying the cheap stuff first, just to replace it all again later. That means I'll be asking a lot of gear questions as time goes on!

Welcome back, James. Glad to see things are falling into place for you. Acans are probably the last craze that came through, but I think you might change your mind on them when you see a few that have been coming in lately. They seem to be getting better. The nice ones, you'll still pay for, but the others are coming down. There are more and more frag swaps these days, too, so you'll almost have a continuous opportunity for new corals.

The tank and stand don't match, and there are no accessories to go with them, either. So, if anyone wants a 72 bow or a 55 stand, I know a guy selling some.

I'm bummed.

I know of at least one guy selling a 90 gallon who can probably work with you on a price

But who probably can't offer you the same price as someone selling a non-matching stand and canopy

Man Brian, that is some awesome stuff and great prices.... I just can't swing anything near that right now. Honestly, looking at it all now, it's a good thing this other tank fell through. Even if I got stuff on the cheap, this hobby just eats your lunch no matter what. I think I need to just wait a little longer. My business is finally starting to turn a little profit, and if I use it for myself right now, instead of reinvesting it, then I'm just setting myself up for failure down the road. Darn you responsibility!!! AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I just keep hoping that 20 years from now I'll be able to buy whatever the heck I want, and that all this sacrifice now wasn't for nothing.
