I may be picking up a Magnifica

Most of you know i have a really large blue Gig and a few haddoni's in my tank but an opportunity has presented itself to get a Magnifica. By the looks of it, it is quite large. It looks healthy from the pic and the owner has had it for a while. Is it safe to say these guys are just as hardy as a Gig once heatlhy and established in captivity? Also do i need to know anything different as far as care for them or are they pretty much in the same line as my other nems? Any problems keeping this with Gigs and Haddonis?

Here is a pic of it i pulled off of craigslist.

I'm not convinced that's a mag. Looks like it could be an RBTA, but need additional photos to confirm. Also, its position at the bottom of the tank stonlgly suggests BTA, as mags typically are found high on the rockwork.

If I were you, I would ask for more photos - specifically of the base and mouth.

I was actually thinking the same thing...he is saying that it is a Ritteri which i think are Mags. I'll try to get more photos.

I am 99.9999% certain it is a Rose anemone. I have roses that look exactly like that. Mags typical dont have such long tentacles.

I guess if its a Rose anemone it would make it easier to care for it and probably hardier. When they get this large, will they still move as much, i know BTA's like to move a lot.

You guys are all correct, it is a rbta, and already sold. He does have a Ritteri but doesn't look so good to me. Thanks for the feedback!

A healthy Mag seems relatively easy to care for in a stable tank. Mine hasn't moved and has been a model citizen. (knock on wood) My Haddoni is pure troll though.

I think that is true. Once you can get them past the shipping and initial acclimation steps they can be quite forgiving. Less twitchy, certainly, than many of the SPS I've kept.

I agree with this as well. My mags can tolerate a lot. I definitely don't keep the water in my mag tank in pristine condition. To be completely honest, I don't know the last time I tested it.
