I missed the meeting, but...

I'll bring the beer and buy the pizza and the acrylic!

I bought a 90tooth titanium blade. Would that be enough to cut acrylic? And what did you do to make your edges smooth? I'm looking to make a 3'x3'x15 high tank.

Jay24k, Im all about the beer and pizza.. bring it on.. :) I think the blade I have is either a 120 or 150, will check and see, but I think 90 would be ok. as long as you use some wax on it.

On the edges I assume you mean the corners and what not, I routed them wiht a ball bearing tip trim blade. Worked like a champ.

Jason,

I built the entire thing out of one 4 x 8 sheet of 1/4" acrylic and still had some left over.. :) I bought it from House of Plastics Unlimited. http://www.hopu.com/ for $108.00 which included having it ripped down to 3 x 16" strips.

Between Acrylic, blade, glue, etc. I probrably have $150ish in it. I still have TONS of Weld On left as it does not take much.

Do you have any young children? I might take you up on that offer. If you do, I can bring the 2 little ones. If not, I can leave em home and have a fun day. I have a 2'x4' sheet of acrylic 1/4" and a 1/8" sheet also but I don't know how good of quality it is. Is that hopu place local or they shipped it?

I'll see when I have time in the next few weeks and maybe we can give it a go. Do you have a tank setup already cause I don't mind tossing some frags your way.

My goal is setting up the 3 foot cube tank for a single lumenarc that I can use as a nice prob tank. And then whatever I have left over to make a nice litte sump.

I built one just like yours. One for dad and one for me. Dads been running for 6 weeks now. So far so good. Mine been built for 4 weeks now for mine. Still not installed yet. Maybe able to Sunday.

Did you get the idea from MELEV's Reef? Model G
Had a lot of fun doing this. Also built a CR. Works great.
Love to see your set up installed.
Great pics.

I have 4 children, ages 5, 6, 7, 12 all girls. So sure bring the kids and we can make a day of it.

HOPU is local down on South OBT in Orlando "1 block north of I4" so you can get what you need there. HD offers some 1/4 as well, but on the pricy side for what you get.

I would definetly stick with 1/4 for the sides, bottom, etc. the 1/8 just would flex to much and you would end up adding additional supports anyway.

My 200 JUST finished cycling, so its not quite ready yet, but I might take you up on that offer in the future. :)

The 3' tank would be a nice. I would love to have a frag tank setup in the garage. humm theres an idea!!!!

BDB,

Yes is a Model G with a modified baffle area. I would not of even attempted this without Marc's site and the information he has provided. GREAT resource.

The CR is on my list, would love to see what you did with yours.

Will post some pics when it gets installed, hopefully this weekend.. we will see..

Thanks,

Jack

Very cool project Jack!

This might seem like a strange question, but how do you like your tool dock system?

Not a strange question at all.. I LOVE IT

I have a table saw, a compond miter saw, a double wheel grinder, and a spot left over for my router table.. ;)

Good eyes by the way.. ;)

Well, it seems like a great idea especially in the right set up. Most of us find that space is a limiting factor. I built a table outside my shop that I bring the tools out to and use them on, so I guess it's a similar concept.

I bet you have a lot of satisfaction in building that sump yourself. The joints look really nice too.
