I know that some of you have better leads than I do, so where would be the best place to get one of these and what do I need, like how many watts, should it be 10,000K and so on...? what would be the best for that 12g tank?

70 watt metal halide

these thing are about the same price as the 150w

if i were you i would look into what you are goingt o keep in the tank and invest in a auto-top-off system first

T-5's are best for that sized tank, Or PC's.
The lowest watt MH ballast/bulb they make for aquariums use is a 75w.

They have 70 w double ended now too.

I really notice a difference keeping a 3 gallon cool with only a 13 bright light kit lighting upgrade. And evaporation is extreme with the fan's blowing. I may be able to use less fans with the iceprobe I just bought but that should be something on your mind too.

If you're not going with sps you might want to check out some of the upgrades you can do with the various forms of pc's out there but a little sps tank looks really really good.

ok cool, thanks guys...now can I put this MH light over my glass on my tank, or does the water have to be exposed?

also, Im kinda lookin for a "kit" I suppose its called, that has the light surround and everything. I really dont want to make one out of a retro because frankly, I dont know what I would be doin.

I know there are some 24" complete systems but you would probably need a regular pendant. I'm not sure they make those for the 70w ones but that nanoreef site should have a lot of threads about lighting upgrades etc.

yes it does, been looking through it. Another question though. Can I have JUST MH? Or should I have PC or T5 bulbs along with the MH? I really like the Current USA Sunpod 070w HQI - 20", but what would I do for the other lights if I need them...

The pros for running t-5s out weigh the pros of a 70 MH.

Cheaper, Less Heat, Just as good - if not better color, run cooler, easier to get, last longer.

well, ive got a coralife 50/50 on there now and I just dont seem to see hardly any growth at all on my polyps. That is why I want to upgrade.

plus, I want to be able to put whatever I want in there. Would I be able to do that with just t-5's and get good growth?

Trottman show this man some pis from your tank.

Dang...that is kind of rough, he just wants to know if the lighting is ok. LOL

Sorry Steve, it was there.
