I have a 180 gallon mixed reef. I have a powder blue tang, yellow tang, 6 line wrasse, 4 occelaris, and a lawnmover blenny. My wife wants some more fish. What would be a good addition to my tank?

"my wife wants some more fish"
YA right!
its ok.. we all have the same obsession, you dont have to lie about it and act like you dont want more fish.
lol jk.
i think a group of a few Lyretail Anthias.. 1 male and a small group of females... these guys have GREAT coloration and are a nice addition to a large reef tank IMO... they look good with some blue/green chromis too IMO

LOL, I almost wrote after that line, "okay, I wouldn't mind some more fish also." I agree about the coloration of the anthias. I just wonder about feeding them. I have heard that they are picky eaters, and I really don't feed my fish a lot right now (once a day).

Interestingly enough I was just thinking about a small shoal of either Carpenter's wrasse or lyretail anthias for my 180. I think you got a couple of good suggestions. The lyretails (which are the fish I am leaning towards) aren't picky eaters at all but I would recommend you feed them at least twice a day. The Bartlett's are great hardy anthias as well but are out of my price range.

how about a rabbit of some kind. My magnificent is the wifes favorite fish. hes like a dog. Likes to follow you around and eat rights out of your hands. Great fish. just an idea.

How about some Gobiodon sp. gobies? They're tiny, perch on corals/rocks, peaceful, and cute. I had a couple of yellow clown gobies (Gobiodon okinawae?) and liked them very much - they were popular with visitors as well. I had a big sailfin tang as well and even though he would occasionally charge them they just stood their ground - nothing seemed to phase them. :)

jayo

fairies/flashers or anthias are a great choice!

a harem of carpenters would be the cheapest i think... you could do maybe lineatus, laboutei, scotts, bathephylus, but you will definitely pay around 500-700 for a harem....

lyretails are prob the hardiest anthias as well :)

Well, my wife really wants the Lyretail anthias now. I'll make her a deal. I will get them if she feeds them in the morning. I don't think my patients would like smelly hands in their mouths in the morning, lol. I think it will add some nice color too.

Does anybody have a male and a few females? I was thinking about 3 females to go with him.

Anybody know if the are good shippers? I don't have many aquarium stores near me, and the oncesthat are get their shipments midweek. When I get there on the weekend, the good stuff is gone.

From everything I have heard these fish ship well and are pretty tough. I do think you may need more than three females to keep the male from beating up the females, I was thinking of getting at least six myself.
