I need a new pump.

I need a new pump for my 150 gallon. I have a quiet one but the shaft broke today and as it is about 5 years old I did not think buying a new shaft was wise due to the age of the pump.

What pump should I get for about $80-$120. No more than that.

Mag drive?
Sicce?
Ehiem?

Ive always read that the EHEIM is probably the best internal pump around but Ive never used one personally. I've always used Mag pumps but only because I always seem to get a good deal on a used one right before I pull the trigger on an EHEIM

just saw your other thread...your quiteone 6000 was probably give you a return of 1000-1200 gph at 5-6' head.

Not sure you can find a replacement pump that delivers that volume for $100. If you cant afford to spend more, probably best to buy a new impeller or even a second 6000.

700-900 gph. Looking at the mag drive 7or 9.5 $70 and $90. The eheim seems to be $165

You'll need the 9.5 or 12 to get that flow with head pressure. I hope you have a chiller; mags make a lot of heat. I've seen the mag 12's on amazon for about $115

I hate hot pumps. How is this:

Or this:

Humm think I can convince the wife that since I am replacing the pump it's a good time to upgrade the tank?

The 5000 is the better option....dr foster/smith sells the eheim 1262 for $160 with free shipping. I have the 1262, it's a GREAT pump

150 is a big tank. Ide do external, but if you have no choice Eheim is good, but even better options are now available with DC pumps. Dont know any in particular but hear they are well worth the extra $$$.
