I ordered replacement filters for our 5 stage system and I'm positive I have the first one on the left and the membrane(that's obvious) correct. Are the other three filters in order?

They are:
1 SEDIMENT FILTER CARTRIDGE 5 MICRON
1 CARBON BLOCK WATER FITLER CARTRIDGE 5 MICRON
1 GAC WATER FILTER
1- 75 GPD MEMBRANE
1 DI COLOR CHANGING FILTER CARTRIDGE (MBD30)

But I think I have them in the right order here in the pic....

Thanks all. Oh, what do you clean your filter canisters and RODI/saltwater tanks with before you start filling them?

It's been years since I was in this hobby and my 12 year old got up and bought a 75g display with a 20g sump and I'm trying to remember some of this stuff as well as read and learn about all the new stuff.

Actually looking at it, I think the end one is my resin canister replacement and should go in the 3rd container and the GAC (third in the pic) needs to go in the last container. That's the not for drinking water one right?

Thanks

Just as you have the listed above.

You have it correct. I would recommend getting a lower micron carbon filter before your membrane though. I have a 4 stage with a couple of 1micron filters splice in before membrane.

I've usually seen the GAC filter placed before the carbon block filter, especially if it is catalytic carbon for removing chloramines. Make sure you flush out both of those carbon cartridges before running that water to your membrane. Just disconnect the hose leading to the membrane housing and let that flow into the drain for several minutes.

Dave,

The prefilter and carbon filters are used to protect the RO membrane. The prefilter stops any "larger" materials so the smaller the better. I usually go with .5 micron but many will use 1 micron. The carbon filters absorb a lot of the chemicals in the water or break them down. Chlorine/chloramines are the main item it removes because these can damage your RO membrane over time. It removes others but those are the 2 you should worry about. The RO membrane then removes most of the other items in the water. Whatever is left is then absorbed by the DI resin.

So your order in your OP is correct. You can flip the carbon and GAC but doubt it maters. Both break down chlorine and chloramines. The Minot water report states that chlormines range from 1.6 to 2.2ppm.

I would suggest going with a 1 micron or lower prefilter the next time you change them out. Most people change the filters around the 6 month mark or you can monitor the water pressure before the RO membrane and change them once the water pressure starts dropping.

If you are planning on drinking the water, you want to use the water before the DI cartridge. DI resin is not food grade and so many recommend not drinking it.

Thanks guys. I didn't get the E mails on post replies. I see why. I'm not in Minot anymore. I'm in Cheyenne and retired now. Guess I need to update all my stuff.

We are not going to drink the water. It's exclusively for the tanks. I was skeptical on the 5m filter as well after it got here. My son ordered it as he is doing most of this on his own dime. He's documenting the build and setup and maintenance as a school project he has this coming year. These were cheaper and he could afford them so he got them. I gave him my canister setup and cleaned it out for him. He chalked that up as a lesson learned. This sparked me to start on our 120-150 in wall setup so we can do these together. This way I can get the replacement parts and he can concentrate on his hardware and livestock. That keeps mom off my back for helping him.

Oh, these filters didn't have labels on them so I posted with pic to verify.

Thanks all. Glad to be getting back into it. Especially with my 12 year old as interested as I am. His 75g is almost ready to go.
