I need something to clean sand

What is a good cleaner for my sand bed? I am thinking queen conch or a tiger cucumber. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have five Astropecten polycanthus sea stars, they're good at moving a lot of sand. Otherwise I'd more go for the cucumber, because the queen conch might be a bit clumsy and knock things over...

Fighting conch for a 50gal, maybe 2 of them if you have a wide expanse of sand. Since they burrow, they don't tend to knock things over. Your tank is 2+ years old---you might be safe with a cuke. A raw new tank I'd say no way, but it might work well for you. Get a tiger tail. They're reputed less problem.

Thanks! Actually, the 50 g is 2+ yrs, before that I had a twenty g for a 1yr and before that a 12g nanocube for a yr. Everybody moved from tank to tank to tank. Only thing that has changed it the water. hehehehehe
I have a crocea clam, anemone crabs, harlequin serpant star and various snails ( including an astrea (sp?) snail I've had for 4 yrs), plus lots of microstars, pods, bristle worms, tube worms, etc. No fish that would bother a cucumber.
So you think a cuke would be ok...where is a good place to buy one?

I have been told off for recommending Astropecten polycanthus, so I must add that I have a large tank (1,300 l) and also feed my Astropecten stars by injecting mysis shrimp and zooplankton into the sand. Without feeding and especially in smaller tanks they can't get enough to eat. They are still excellent sand-movers though...

Why not try sea people?
