As you can see from some of the photos above, some of the Zoanthid colonies are taking over the tank.

I understand that they are sunny D's, and Smurfs bloods, and goblins on fire, and emeralds on fire, and Chucky's bride's, and yada yada yada... I don't want to kill them all, just some, before they start killing the SPS. They are growing over some of the SPS colonies and some are almost engulfed in zoa's.

I'm not interested in taking the rock out of the tank and hacking it up to make frag's. I just want an effective way to kill them without affecting any of the other tank inhabitants.

Thanks!

I used just a few drops of water so it was real thick. This way as your pushing it through the syringe you have a lot more control of where it goes and you kill what you want to kill.

I just used an infants medicine syringe

Well if you ever do decide to frag some ill deff take some off your hands. Looking for Zoas since I don't have luck with sps

Have you considered elevating your sps above them? Basically mount a flat rock above them then mount your sps on that? If you start killing them they'll just come back. Beautiful problem though, I love zoas but they look like crap in my tank lol!

Did you penetrate the tissue of the zoa or just cover it in the kalk slurry? Thanks!

Thanks to all for the kind words and suggestions.

Not sure if I have the secret... I like to keep things simple: Bare bottom, sump with fuge, good skimmer, kalk reactor and dosing pumps for a, b and magnesium.

Hope that helps.

Does anyone know if the kalk slurry will kill the zoa's on contact or if i have to physically "inject" them? Thanks.

Id try to peel and scrape as much as possible, trying to get under the mat and only do a little at a time. My only concern would be with toxins that may be released when u kill a bunch of zoas at one time. either way having carbon on hand is a good idea

Scribbled rabbit fish will take care of all those zoas. I had purchased one by mistake and took most of mine. The only way I caught him was with a trap and putting in a few polyps in the trap for him to get at. He would not touch the fish food at all. Good luck

Hello and Good morning,

My name is Emilio and I work for PETZ. This atrocity which you are about to commit will not stand with our organization. ZOAS ARE PEOPLE TOO! Please prepare all of your Zoas for prompt pickup by myself as I will put them in my tank.

Thank you for understanding our position
