kent superbuffer dkh...best!jmo
how many times do i need to dose the tank ? can you overdose?

Why do you want to raise it? There is nothing wrong with a pH of 7.9, and it is not uncommon to see that reading in a reef tank.

Most people like their PH above your level.
True, but for what reason? The pH in my tank ran 7.70-7.95 for years due to heavy CO2 use from my reactor. The last two years after cutting that back some it now runs 8.1-8.4. I have seen zero difference in the health or look of my livestock, nor have I ever seen anyone post about their pH being lower or higher than the typically "thought of as normal" 8.3 that could say that their animals seemed to be suffering because of it. They only wanted to raise or lower it because 8.3 is a commonly spoken of value. Calcium and alk are crucial to coral health. Keep those in line and the biggest danger of pH problems is the contant rise and fall of it while bumping it with an additive.

I agree with smiller. Your problem could be higher than normal Co2. Especially if your Alk and Cal numbers are about right.
With the way homes are sealed up to save energy, there may not be a very high air turnover rate in your home. You may need to plumb your skimmer intake to outside air. I did that and it increased my Ph number by .2
