I need your opinion...

I am brand new to the hobby. My question...when I ordered my tank and stand I bought the MegaFlow overflow system. I think I'm going to like it. But it comes with "barbed" bulkheads. That means I will be using flexible tubing to connect everything. That's fine with me but I would like input about how long will this stuff last. PVC will last forever but I won't be using that. I don't want to be changing this stuff out 2 years from now.
What do you think?

Nothing is forever. Besides, the pipes get cruded up and a replacement every couple years isn't a bad thing. Plus, the flex tubing is easy to do, so a win-win. Keep it simple, and happy reefing.

I use the barbed bulkheads and flex tube on my tank and love them. Like Tweaked said, easy enough to replace every few years to cut down on the crap that builds up inside the tubes

you will love the mega overflow, i say hard pvc. it trully not very likely you need to replace it IMO. i have parts of my system that havent been replaced. (7years).

also if your going to run them hard 1700gph+ pvc will also be quieter. flex will bounce, and or slosh so to speak.

you might want to buy a durso standpipe, its a lot quieter than a mega flow. I switched mine out and am very happy about it

Thanks for the input, just need to know I'm on the right track!
The Megaflow overflow kit I bought comes with the durso standpipe.

With the hard pvc pipe do you guys notice more vibration noise from the return pump? Now that I have a quieter skimmer it made me realise how noisey my return was.

My mega flow was a little loud. maybe they have changed the design since then. so I got a durso and its silent.

I went with a section of soft tube from the plumbing and the pump and rubber feet to help absorb vibrations. Here is a pic.
