My purple firefish, Clarisse disappeared about 3 or 4 weeks ago. No trace of her - looked everywhere. I figured she had died and Pistol shrimp, etc. had taken care of the cleanup. We purchased a Twin Spot Gobie and along with our YWG figured our tank was fully stocked.
You know where this is going, don't you?
Last night I turned on the light for or Chaeto and I lifted the lid to see how it was growing. Guess who was back there, alive and well? Miss Clarisse, obviously well fed though a little confined. I had to gently fish her out and plunked her back into the main tank. I don't think she was too happy, she seemed to enjoy her solitary life back there with the chaeto.
I don't know how she managed for so long because until a couple of days ago that compartment was full of rubble rock, too. there couldn't have been much room for her. I pulled to rock to put into our new seahorse tank and that's the only reason I found her.
So now I'm a little overstocked in the 12. Maybe once the sandbed in the seahorse tank comes to life better I will move the Twin Spot in there. Actually it's the same bio-load since she was in there all along - we'll see if anybody starts getting on each other's nerves.
