I sure hate to admit it, but I think my clowns have ICH. Pics...

copper is masking the velvet.

the slime and ... makes me say velvet and not ich.

I see velvet in petco all the time. Has a hazy red tint and fish will have faded discoloration.

Plus...I think velvet would have shown up quicker right?

They have been in the qt forever. did over a mouth of therapeutic level of copper.

seems like something was wrong with your medication ... as they still have what ever it is, right ? ich or velvet.

Are we forgetting about Brook.

Copper is not effective against Brook right?

So the darker one has something again. It's not Velvet. It's either ICH or Brook I'm pretty sure.

Being that the Formalin MS worked quickly, I would think it was Brook.

Apparently it didn't work well enough.

So today it appears that his scales are flipped up slightly, and that he's got a couple spots again. I caught him rubbing quite hard on a PVC fitting. He was darting into it and did it several times. Will they scratch with Brook or only with ICH? I need a positive ID.

Ohh, and he's been staying in the bottom corner a lot.

It's not uncommon to have to do multiple baths to completely knock Brook out. Also, are you putting the clowns right back in the same tank/water you took them out of? If so, they are probably getting reinfected by that water. I would transfer them to a new tank/water/equipment after every bath; everything completely sterilized - the same as if you were doing TT.

Yeah I sure was. Crap, I didn't think about it because I treated the tank itself.

Probably too low a dose. 20 drops per 10/G.

How long does it take formalin to dissapate?

I'm not sure. I don't like using formalin in-tank for a number of reasons. The problem with Brook (and Uronema) is their respective life cycles haven't been studied as thoroughly as ich & Marine Velvet. So it's difficult to say how to "treat the water" the infected fish are in.

hmm, I see...

Snorvich, can you chime in on this one?

I did 1 drop of Quick Cure per gallon, total of 3 transfers, dosed every day 1-5, every other day a few doses. Last few days to get her wound to heal dosed Metro in the QT bucket. I had some handy at the time, figured it was good for both the wound and the Brook. A full formalin dip probably would have killed the fish because of the open wound, baths worked great with the Metro finally. 14 days total treatment time. Feed on off formalin days that second week.

I'm having more problems with the rest of the fish, but didn't stick with the TT or have a Metro ending. Treating more aggressively again even w/o symptoms knowing they have been exposed.

Very smart!

I keep hearing Metro. Is that an antibiotic?
