I think I found a fireworm

I was picking up a rock while chasing a green-stripe mushroom and looking for tiny brittle stars when I discovered this little, thick, 4" long, slow-moving guy:

My best guess is that he is some sort of fireworm. What do you guys think? He is free to anybody who wants him. I have him in a bag floating in my sump at the moment.

thats a common bristleworm, harmless and beneficial.

Yup... :) Might not feel too good if you picked him up by mistake... They don't bother me though...

Free to a good home. :)

Still floating in my bag. Biggest bristle worm I've ever had in my tank, though.

I've got 2 that are 15" - 16" long. I've had them for years and they never bother anything that I know of. I guess they snag a snail every now and then but I regard snails as expendable food anyway.

Well, after my previous worm experience I am a little jittery. My tank would have been full of pretty zoanthids now if not for 2-foot+ eucinid wormzilla.

Seriously, though, I can either let him free in my refugium (where he will be tossed with the sand) or go as a gift to somebody. Let me know.
