I think these are SWEET!

Well, from my experience...

A. First you get excited and buy everything in sight, then you kill it.

It's at this point one of two things will happen.

1. You give up and are one of those people that tells everyone they know that this is the hardest hobby in the world and not to waste their time or money with it.

2. Repeat step A.

The best part is steps A and 2 seem to perpetually go hand in hand, but after a while you notice it takes you longer to complete step A.

Basically, there's no hope for any of us that use steps A & 2.

HAHAHAHA... This is so true. I'm in the killing process... Gotta figure it out soon!

Cow,
Don't you just love this hobby!?

Try looking for the simple. I found many times that when I was real busy with life, the simplest things went wrong and almost went catastrophic. Like high salinity, a clogged powerhead, carbon I forgot to change or remove...

You know, easy stuff.

That's the #1 thing that kills stuff tho- simple lack of time, imho. Like the month every now and again where your spouse takes offense at how much time you spend after work with your tank and not them...

However, I often take solace in the fact that if he ever divorces me for it, I'll still have the tank. :D

Laurie,
I have found that when you become single,
you kind of remember you have
an interest in the opposite sex and
kind of DON'T have time for your tank anymore. :fun1:

It's ironic actually.

Nah, I'm done after this one if it doesn't work out.

I picked out two great guys to marry, in all seriousness. I tried the cool Special Forces type the first time, great dad, horrible hubby type person. The second try I got a very sweet hearted workaholic LOL.

At this point I just like to hang out with my tanks, Ipod, and books. I figure I'm done cuz I couldn't date a woman, and men scare the crap out of me anymore romantically. Too many shady ones mixed in with the good guys, and no one gets aong perfectly anyhow.

ROTFL

jessiesgrl, I feel your pain with the whole neglected hubby issue. My husband has been feeling very neglected lately. I keep telling him if he wants to spend time with me he has one of two options: he either has to become aquatic and live in my tank or develop an interest in this hobby :D Hopefully he'll pick option two ;)

Or... like what always happens when married people become roomates, get a girl/boyfriend...

It's tough keeping a healthy balance and it's cheaper to just pay attention to your husbands for 5 minutes a day. or however long it takes. :fun1:

ROTFLMAO!!!

So, Ecotoxlady... I should ask him if he wants to go with number one or number two?? And hope he picks option 2?:eek2: I dunno, guys sure can make the potty smell interesting... not sure I would request that it happen intentionally...

Omg I laughed so hard I almost peed.

Hahahaha, Bill... lol... I have decided after much thought that I am not going to touch that comment with a ten foot pole... LOL

He usually works 60-65 hours a week. :( Work has dibs on him first, I get him second. I do all but coincidental maint when he's not around. And I think he may eventually fall prey to the addiction- he does, after all, come stare into the tank with me at times.. although he complains about me doing it when he's home.

I'm just set in my ways, I think. Reefer addiction is worse than crack.

LOL

It gets better Laurie.

As you do this longer you will notice your impulse will lessen.
It can get worse too, but usually you run out of money or room in your tank before you can do some serious damage.

You fit in perfectly here. Just ask Karen, (ecotoxlady) I think she ran out of room. Hopefully she'll hold off on the bigger tank...;)
