I want a clam but don't know much about them...

I've been interested in getting a clam lately, I know someone that is selling one but he doesn't know what type it is, is there a good clam site that has pics and bios? What type of conditions do clams need? I currently have a 30g with PC lights but in a few months I will have a 190g with MH lights. I like to research before I buy anything so any info would be great.
